Switzerland is the European country I have the most personal experience with because I lived there for a few weeks and I have family there.

If you want to know about the cultural vibes, let me give you a history fact. In 2022 all of Switzerland finally recognized gay marriage. In 2023 they officially banned full face coverings like niqabs, burqas, and face coverings at protests.
That’s Switzerland.
Also my cousins started going to school in Germany instead because all the Swiss schools they went to had severe bullying problems. Not sure if that’s an actual cultural problem though or if they just got severely unlucky.

Slightly off topic but when I was in Switzerland so many people told me that Swiss-German doesn’t have a written version of the language but I also had pamphlets directly handed to me that were written in Swiss-German and saw labels and posters written in it so what the fuck was that about
The only thing I ever learned how to say in Swiss-German was grüezi which I was instructed to say to people I didn’t know when I passed them on walking trails.
Yes it’s true. My family over there lives in Zurich canton and they drive into Germany to do most of their big grocery trips. They even ask for the sales tax back which I’ve personally never understood like. Morally. You use the roads and public services in Germany all the time so why wouldn’t you pay sales tax??? Whatever.
Also in Switzerland you’re required to provide public toilets at your restaurant if you have indoor seating so obviously if you eat indoors you’ll be standing. Dunkin’ Donuts also came to Switzerland before they came to the west coast of the US. Born and raised American and I had Dunkin for the first time in Zurich.
