Perhaps one of the biggest fish tragedies of all time is that tunas, the large, fast, powerful apex predators of the open ocean that have evolved to be perfectly hydrodynamic thanks to millions of years of evolution, with fins that can be retracted into grooves in the body for maximum smoothness, which can heat up their swimming muscles and brains and eyes to become even more efficient hunters, who are in fact several species of fish, the largest of which (Atlantic bluefin) can reach four meters in length and rivals the marlins in being the largest perciform fish…..
….are just kinda known as a food item by most people. Like cod, this animal should be a symbol of raw power and speed, not fish dinner time
Yeah !! I don’t think it’s all too fair to the tuna that the eating thing is what they’re known for first and foremost, most of the time the only thing they’re known for. I mean, people eat horses, but horses are also known for lots of other things, they are a symbol of agility and speed and strength, and they’re known for being used for work and for leisure, and sometimes they’re fragile and anxious. People eat reindeer but there’s also the Santa Claus aspect and major cultural aspects. Similarly the tuna simply deserves more than what she’s getting </3 A deadly angel of the ocean and her capabilities are underestimated time and time again.

Oh no, this is a little bit embarrassing, “like cod” is literally just a version of “like god”, as in, “like, god/gosh!!!!” when you’re really frustrated about something. I say “oh cod/by cod” and other variations because fish pun. I don’t sadly have any cool cod facts ^^’
