While D&D used to very much be a game for the white cishet crowd, in recent years it has become home to an increasing number of queer folks. This is not surprising, because while D&D is not in and of itself a queer game, its escapist fantasy does resonate with a lot of queer people, and a queer reading of the game does allow for reframing its gameplay in queer terms: the basic gameplay of D&D involves going into dungeons (gay clubs) to fight (have sex with) goblins (goblins)
