a lot of stories end with deus ex machina in the form of “everything reached an emotional peak and that in itself was enough to resolve the situation” without any actual plot events; this is particular true for magical stories where you can plausibly swing that emotion is magic and thus feeling something really strong is sufficient to change the world in the desired direction.
