From the last article:

“There’s a tremendous treatment industry that needs this to be a disease — a thing they can charge people to treat,” Prause says.
But promoting certain therapies may be ill-advised. “You can harm patients by using treatment models that aren’t research-supported,” Prause says.

“Porn Addiction” isn’t a real thing. Medical research has repeatedly tried and failed to define such a syndrome. The only people who do are “spiritual healing” quacks and people who want to send their kids to conversion therapy “reform camps”.

Y'all are repeating far-right purity-culture sex shaming propaganda.

I’m so tired of having this debate over and over.

It’s somewhat missed in this discussion, but treating something that they consider an “immoral bad habit” as equivalent to physiological dependency to a substance is kind of gross, because it means that they are also saying that people who have chemical dependencies are morally deficient.

This belief, that drug addiction is associated with moral deficiency is not only a source of a lot of the prejudice and oppression that face recreational drug users and any other groups that can be associated with drug-use, but has also lead to a rejection of actually effective interventions and treatments in favor of ineffective, moralistic ones (i.e. 12-step programs)
