Any government that wants to privatize a publicly-owned utility or resource is dumber than a bag of hammers. Or complicit. The public good and monopolistic profit-taking are pretty much incompatible.
Proffit is extracting of value that could instead go to servace users either in form of better quality or lower costs. Always.
In some cases this is only reasonable (a writer must be fairly conpensated or the supply of writers becomes less) but in many cases ist immoral. The proffit margins in power, water, medicine? can be measured in the col, the dirty and the dead.
