Freedom and autonomy doesn’t apply to diabetics I guess lol.
There are plants and stuff that makes insulin
No there aren’t. There are certain fungi that produce molecularly similar chemicals, but even among animals it is not the case that one species’ insulin can be easily exchanged for another, which is why modern insulin production is based on genetically engineering bacteria to allow them to express the particular form of insulin necessary for humans.
(sorry if I’m wrong idk much about diabetes)
So basically they either need to be careful about what they eat or they are just fucked?
Depending on the type and severity of the diabetes, insulin access can be life or death. A person with type 1 diabetes needs regular insulin shots to avoid diabetic ketoacidosis, which is universally fatal if untreated.
Also battalion of claws makes a good point. For anarchism most of the stuff that exists wouldn’t just disappear so the would have insulin anyway
Also like I said I’m unfortunately painfully uneducated in diabetes
But we weren’t talking about all hypothetical forms anarchism might take. This was from the start about the opinions of one specific egoist anarcho-primitivist who believes society would be better off without modern technology, including modern medicine.
Yes, surely more organised and institutional branches of Anarchism that devise ways for large amounts (more than would ever fit in a single commune) of people to work together across supply chains could handle this.
It’s not like you need a state to produce insulin or other medicine, corporations already do the production in most countries (albeit maybe not the research). Just having the workers take control of the already existing corporations, would be a giant step towards anarchism (if the team can just fire their boss that they don’t like then that boss doesn’t really have authority now does he) and wouldn’t suddenly stop medicine from being produced.
Tearing down society entirely isn’t a necessary component of an Anarchist revolution.
