I think that is very much what fic is meant to be – others may enter, but you wrote the entrance for yourself. Or for someone you’re gifting it to, but for that person it’s as personal as it is for yourself, it’s not an emperor-and-a-bad-painting situation.
Also I chuckle a little whenever Ocean Vuong comes up because I know the name mainly from the time his prose was used in an Australian literature exam and a bunch of students found him on twitter and demanded to know what the hell he meant. :D
