not saying artists are oppressed but this is genuinely what this post feels like. to me.
like this idea that being an artist is like. a super respectable profession that people admire and see as the backbone to society only makes sense if you are exclusively talking to other artists, because most people just do not give a shit about artists as a profession or like. at all. like i can’t be the only one who grew up being told that “being an artist isn’t a REAL job” and that saying “i want to be an artist” is like saying “yeah i enjoying not being able to afford food while i try to sell my paintings that nobody wants on the streets”
