One of the universe’s great synchronicities is how Dungeons & Dragons podcasts revived popular interest in tabletop roleplaying at exactly the right time for all the ex-Homestucks to be like ACTUALLY this is my tiefling player character without changing a blessed thing.

In part, yes, though “perennial tiefling player who you’re pretty sure is using the game as an informal group therapy session to work through some sort of gender thing” is a stereotype that pre-dates both Homestuck and Tumblr itself.
