When I was a kid I read a ton of books that were definitely not appropriate for my age. One of two things would happen:

1. I was too inexperienced to understand what I was reading, and it had no effect on me.
2. I understood what I was reading, and I leveled up.

#2 lays bare the reason some people want to keep books out of the hands of others. They want you ignorant.
