I’ve been thinking about this - and why asking the demon is also a bad idea

now imagine you make a deal with the devil to write your novel, he writes it but only lets you read it in a dream and you have to transcribe it from memory the next day…. 150k of the best prose and plot you’ve ever seen in your life and you have to remember it

It really depends tbh. Are you asking the demon to provide you with inspiration, follow-through, focus, energy, time, whatever is keeping you from writing? Then sure
As soon as the demon is doing the writing it’s no better than using chatgpt or whatever
Are you saying that a ghostwriter is the same as chatGPT??? I know several ghostwriters who’d take pretty big issue with a claim like that.
You just need to credit your spectre and provide appropriate recompense.
Well obviously the compensation and whether the devil should be directly credited or not would both be specified in the contract. And you’d have to either approach him directly or hire him through a respectable agency, not those horrible ‘gig economy’ ghostwriter places that pay like ¼ of minimum wage.
