The Daily Dot used to be cool because it would cover platforms like Tumblr and Twitter when they were first starting out and it took it seriously and didn’t patronize it like a lot of other media did. They even did a few interviews with me about Imgur and Reddit stealing content.
But these last few years it is has just turned to absolute shite and it’s like watching a dumpster fire set another dumpster on fire. Just an unending dumpster fire cascade.
I mean, you read this headline and it makes you think some random TikToker discovered some huge flaw in an Apple update.
In reality… it is just a remote access feature. Like, if you have an elderly parent who fucks up their phone, they can grant you access and you can help them fix it. This is a pretty standard feature that has been in operating systems for decades. There are some security concerns and it can be a double edged sword because a lot of scammers have taken advantage of remote access, but it is not a “lethal” bug.
