machines larger than a human can comprehend have been rotting into the earth, immovable after they ran out of fuel long ago.
borders have fallen apart as city-states reign supreme. old governmental bodies still exist but largely serve as a symbolic gesture. they don’t have power any more- corporations rule over the city-states with strict laws.
these laws are instated to protect trade agreements and people stay inside for protection from the roaming broken battle droids. armies replaced with plastic and rubber continue to function, even long after they stopped receiving commands. their order? shoot on sight.
a constant war, fought between autonomous robots with no regard for humanity.
as such, autonomous robots are heavily stigmatized against, even though they are still largely required in order to be able to transport goods across the live-roads, keep vital systems running, and protect from the plastic armymen.
invasive plant species cover and choke the environment. natural disasters are common occurrences due to climate change, and the mass industrial complex has crawled to a halt as global networks shut down and the population drops.
humanity is now in a waiting game- who will die first? the robots or people?
