everyone’s favorite cartoon The Bipplys!
The Bipplys was an American staple, featuring on Saturday morning cartoon channels frequently in its heyday. It’s main audience was children, and the main draw was violence. Unspeakable, dramatic violence. No setup, nor punchline. A man would walk onto the set, face the camera, and fall down dead. Hard cut to a family in the park. The son disappears. The mother frantically looks around and calls for him. Cut. We are in a shopping mall. There is an infant left in a stroller, on both sides surrounded by people walking the grand and roomy walkways paved with kitschy home furnishing stores and a Spencer’s. The infant begins to wail, and as the camera pans out, it slowly becomes inaudible. The hungry crowd swallows the sound, and soon, so too will the stroller with infant inside join. Fade to black.
