some of yall don’t understand what human rights mean and it is legitimately worrying how some of you think that if a person is ‘bad’ enough they should have their human rights taken away

Human rights should only be restricted to the absolute minimum amount required to protect a greater amount of human rights

Violating a serial killer’s right to free movement by locking them up in some institution or another is okay because it’s protecting the right to live of far more people, the killer’s potential future victims.

But we shouldn’t restrict the killers rights any more than that, any more than absolutely necessary because that doesn’t serve any purpose and in the case that the serial killer never actually killed anyone makes the unnecessary restrictions on the persons rights larger.
