I got a message back from Webtoons about the mature content label, and unsurprisingly they told me that I had to revise episodes with “sexual themes” and innuendos. I already explained my frustration with them deleting the comics they didn’t like and then labeling it as Mature anyways, but when I saw the comics they listed off as “too sexual” I was genuinely angry.
Most of these comics are tamer compared to the far more graphic and sexualized content I’ve seen webtoons happily promote, but two of the comics they deemed “too inappropriate” was just.. women kissing. And being intimate. That was it. No sex or anything.
And both of these comics were about Sera accepting her desire for love and not viewing physical, non-sexual intimacy as a bad and immoral thing. As a lesbian, both of these comics meant a lot to me and as a writer, these are extremely necessary episodes to add to Sera and Lili’s relationship.
I wanted to keep posting because I didn’t think it would be fair to deprive readers of my series, even with webtoons’ obnoxious censorship practices, but thanks to the Mature rating being slapped on and being told it was because of lesbians being intimate, I decided I shouldn’t keep posting this series to that website.
So I’m done with posting Monsters and Girls to webtoons 👍
