I’m sorry fellas but like. I feel like most trans people have the problem where they want to go by a name that’s different from their legal/birth name, but people won’t call them by their preferred name (or, at least, that’s what I hear anyways). I get that. But my parents decided on a doofus nickname to call me from birth, one that’s different from my legal/birthname, and now my “preferred name” is one that not only doesn’t match my gender, but completely just doesn’t match my personality. I love my legal name (it feels more connected to my culture and my family, plus it’s gender-neutral) but absolutely nobody has ever called me by my legal name. Ever. Every time I want to put my name as my legal name on a form or something, my parents say “But it’s easier the other way.” They get mad, too, because they love the nickname that they picked, and I can tell a whole lot of things went into it.
