it’s a label. It. Is. A. Label. It is also a slur. However, and this is very important, stop policing peoples labels. Stop it. It helps no one and forces queer people to choose a couple of boxes to fit into which is fucking stupid. The vast majority of the queer community is built on the fact that we don’t have to fit into society’s boxes so why the fuck are we building our own and then tearing the throats out of anyone who tries to leave their designated box and look around a bit? The queer community is unique in that there are a lot of slurs that also are used as labels in the community, which is punk and cool, but that means you can’t police someone for using a label that also happens to be a slur. Mind your own damn business and remember that the only wrong way to use a label is to tell someone else how they should be using it.
