It’s also important to remember that the stereotype was perpetuated by media they watched growing up (at least in the 80s/90s.)
I mean not to say they aren’t responsible for unlearning behavior, but like a whole generation of little boy needs grew up being told that pretty girls would mock them for the things they loved, and then didn’t know how to handle the cognitive dissonance when they saw pretty girls liking those things.
Again, not to say it as an excuse, but like maybe armed with that knowledge, we can push them to unlearning that a bit more than outright condemnation?
I’m sure the death (or at least reduction) of the bullied nerd trope is already helping the next generations.
