why is “mummies are so rare bc the british ate them” always presented as like a morbid fun fact and not an example of heinous racism and dehumanization of people of colour to the point of cannibalism. a little bit odd if im honest.

statement from OP presented as fact without sources

OP elaborates with no sources provided

further statement made as fact with no source provided

OP doubles down, in spite of vaguely acknowledging that there is a chance they may be wrong about the entire pretext of the post

egyptologist on twitter who is saying it didnt happen often

and again. the post is NOT ABOUT whether it’s true or not that mummies were consumed as medicine. the post is about the way people perceive this idea, whether it’s true or not, as a fun fact rather than one of the clearest and most obvious cases of dehumanizing racism. it doesn’t matter if it’s true or not. there are records of this happening (not much, and definitely a minority of the cases of desecrated egyptian graves, but even in the last link where an egyptologist is saying how overexaggerated these claims are, she does say it did happen a little) but again thats NOT the point. i was referencing a “fun fact” that i see spread around whenever people talk about morbid/unsettling facts or whatever, and the point isnt if it’s true or not, but the way people act in response to this concept. i really don’t know how i can make this any clearer.

This loser straight up made a sideblog just for this

This post is the only thing on their blog lmao. Imagine being this petty.
