I love the concept of artfight but it must be said that the system is not particularly kind to beginner artists because people will eye-roll at them attacking more experienced artists and say it’s just because they want a revenge from them but more experienced artists also just seem to tend not to seek out those beginner artists as much for the same reason (wanting a potential revenge to be art they like) and that kind of annoys me

This isn’t a matter of me thinking anyone “owes” anyone else art I just think it kind of goes against the spirit of the event to treat it like an opportunity to do an art trade with artists you like and get irritated by people less experienced than you trying to play the game with you at all

@crazysodomite Hi Pavel my thoughts exactly it really is a pervasive thing in certain online art communities even if those same communities would claim otherwise. Like. Being a beginner artist is a very demoralizing experience because your work is thought of as not having as much “objective” quality compared to other people and it sucks to see that reenforced in a game that was kind of constructed around the idea that art communities have this very pompous attitude and wanted to combat it by encouraging people to collaborate and make art for each other more. I think this type can be avoided but they definitely exist I’ve had to unfollow a couple people for complaining about “bad/lazy artists” attacking them solely to get a “free commission” as revenge which is just extremely self important and rude.
