Post: makes valid point about aromantic topics
Me: **agrees and relates**
Also post: DO NOT TAG AS AROACE YOU'LL BE BLOCKED ASSHOLE!!!!!
Me being aroace: Ok so I just won't reblog at all then...
I partially agree with this, I feel like I’m intruding when I reblog “don’t tag as aroace” posts as well AROACEsafeplaceforall so… but at the same time I’m not tagging it as anything nor am I making an aroallo/aro issue about being asexual.
It’s a kind of trend I’ve seen recently were a large number of aroallos have posted stuff that at first glance and if I didn’t know better, could honestly read as anti aroace.
YES AROMANTIC IS SEPERATE FROM ASEXUAL
YES YOU CAN BE ONE WITHOUT THE OTHER
But it is also true that aroace people can reblog posts about one part of their ID and they can do so without tagging it.
I think you’re missing the point a lil on why we do it; we don’t want whatever we say to be misinterpreted as aroace just because someone reblogged it as aroace, because we’re not aroace.
Like we get it, something we say might be relatable somehow to you aroaces, but those posts reflect our experiences, our aro experiences, not aroace.
Having something we say marked, tagged or reblogged as aroace, instead of just aro or with no tags at all, just feels like erasure.
People also use aroace as a umbrella for communication instead of the more acknowledging and fitting term aspec; People do in fact treat aroace as the umbrella, unaware as to who they are mislabeling and hurting by doing so.
Remember, aroaces are the most seen group in the aro community. Not even grey area aroaces get that much recognition, they in fact are ina similar boats as us aros and aroallos.
So us putting “don’t tag as aroace or ace!” isn’t some anti aroace gatekeeping, it’s us trying to protect our experiences from being misinterpreted as something we are not.
