my gf said this and it’s all i can think about while i play this piece of shit game. in the same way that elden ring and tears of the kingdom were very “seamless” games, starfield is possibly the most “seamful” game i’ve ever played.
when you do your first spaceflight, here’s the process:
enter ship. loading screen
liftoff from ship. loading screen
you’re in space now. open fast travel menu, select another planet. loading screen
you’re in orbit above the new planet. time to land. open fast travel menu, select landing zone. loading screen.
you’re on your ship on the planet now. time to get out. loading screen.
just. awful. awful. awful. unbelievably bad.
now, to be fair: you can actually just directly fast travel from any point to any other point. game doesn’t tell you this immediately. but i finished a mission earlier and just fast traveled straight back to the quest giver.
but. well.
that means that there’s basically no reason to ever use your spaceship.
in a space rpg.
about space.
No Mans Sky has this shit figured out seven years ago but Bethesda sucks
