omg grow the fuck up. not everyone in the us military literally goes around shooting up brown people in the name of american imperialism and white supremacy for their own personal gain 🙄 some of them (like for example engineers?) only build and maintain the infrastructure necessary for the shooting up of brown people in the name of american imperialism and white supremacy for their own personal gain
im sure someone somewhere sometime has joined the us military out of desperation, but they’re a minority. most people joining the military are from middle class military families. that aside, we don’t owe anyone who joins the military for any reason any slack whatsoever. there’s not a level of poverty where taking part in mass murder to ensure america’s security as a capitalist superpower becomes acceptable. lets care more about the actual victims being killed, injured, or displaced by the us military the hypothetical victims being “basically forced” to enlist in an organization that has been voluntary for the last 51 years.
