I am not really trusting this. Truth is that gender is much more complicated than that and discluding a group can be harmful to many people. There are men who have experienced sexism. Im not quite sure im explaining well what im trying to get at here but this feels off.

I think you’re right to be suspicious of any categoricsl absolute Statement made about something as multifasceted as gender. For example, im sure there are trans men who have experience sexism directed at them for being perceived as a woman and sexism for being trans. By making a categorical statement like that you are either excluding them by saying “trans are not really men and therefor they cannot speak as men” or by saying “trans men are men, therefore any misogyny they experienced is invalid and they shouldn’t complain about it.”

Either one is a bad take. And the person who wrote this probably didn’t mean to say that. But merely by expressing it in that way, they show that they do not percieve trans people to be included in general terms like men and women, and so do not consider them normal.

That being said, the person responding is probably making an argument in bad faith. Like a reverse sexism/racism/“insert broad group here”-ism argument. .

But I think I get what you mean and I believe your instinctive discomfort with a statement like this comes from a place of broadmindedness and is correct.

YES THIS IS WHAT I MEANT THANKYOU SO MUCH
