None of us really know how it happened. It could’ve been a malfunction, some nasty prank, or maybe the thing was actually supernatural somehow. Who knows! The thing is, once he put the money, the thing said
’ You will die young ’
Now, in Eugene’s version of the story, this made him want to work hard and achieve all his goals because he learned to appreciate his time on earth. Memento Mori but creepier.
Which, I mean, yeah sure. That happened. But not quite like that.
He was a kid. And he was terrified.
He missed a lot of school because he was too scared to get out of the house, he thought something would kill him the second he stepped out. I was a kid too, and I didn’t really understand what he was going through, but I tried my best to make him feel better.
Eventually, though, he got better! And became the ambitious little man that he istoday
He always seemed so confident, so assured of himself. But even then,
I could see a lingering sense of anxiety behind his eyes.
I think me and him were pretty close, I was always by his side in everything! Even after the incident, I still tried talking to some people so he didn’t go to jail. It didn’t work, but. Well. Laws’ weakness is money, so he was out pretty quickly.

All because one day he decided to bring a girl home.
