remembering when I posted about the history of the lap dulcimer as an Appalachian instrument and someone reblogged with a six paragraph rant berating me for my “bad history info” and I was so confused until I got to the end and realized they didn’t know the difference between a lap dulcimer and a hammer dulcimer.

one of the major differences being that the lap dulcimer is only about 200 years old and comes from Appalachia, whereas hammered dulcimer is literally ancient and has its roots in West Asia and North Africa.

So you can imagine when the person thought I said the hammered dulcimer comes from 19th century Appalachia. Well. They were mad 🙂
