KID WROTE “MPREG VORTEX” ON THEIR DOODLE PAD AT LUNCH CLUB
I ASKED THEM TO PUT IT AWAY
ANOTHER KID MUST HAVE SMELLED MY HORROR
ASKED “MS DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE OMEGAVERSE IS”
SAMANTHA YOU ARE THIRTEEN WHY DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE OMEGAVERSE IS
@too-many-muses I went full on startled prey mode 😭 I froze, shook my head way too quickly and then started aggressively cleaning the whiteboard lmaooo
don’t you fucking DARE I cannot go down in history as the omegaverse teacher
I know for a fact that they think tumblr is dead as they have told me I look like used to have tumblr before it disappeared lmao
My kid and I were listening to something (can’t remember what) and something came up that was innocent in context and would only register as worthy of note if you know about the Omegaverse and we both flinched
Which is the more horrifying?
Knowing your teenager is aware of the Omegaverse
Or being a teenager and knowing your parent is aware of the omegaverse
Anyway both of us died a little inside as we realised the other one knew
It’s come up a few times since then but purely in a “yes we both know what this is and we are not discussing it further” kinda of way
Anyway I feel your pain a little bit OP but also you totally outed yourself with that reaction
See as a teacher myself, this is when you get very calm and blunt with them.
“Teacher do you know what omegaverse is?”
“Yep! It came out as a trope when i was a bit older than you and I’ve read some of it.”
*stunned silence*
“And I also know its not a school topic so we are putting it away. Back to math.”
Kids are eager to see adults freaked out by inappropriate things or confused about a modern fad.
When you show them that adults are just as much a part of things as they are, they lose all their power.
