I guess friendly reminder that you can’t actually judge someone’s socioeconomic status based on what they own and the classic republican “they can’t be poor they own a smart phone/computer” argument doesn’t suddenly stop being complete out of touch nonsense when a poor person makes it.
Anyway insert “y'all can’t be trusted to eat the rich bcs you’ll target taco bell shift leaders and people with playstations instead of actual billionaires” post here.
I have begun to see this kind of vindictive eat the rich language directed towards say, Youtubers who like….own their own house and live somewhat comfortably while having to put away for the future because this won’t last forever and do extremely little exploitative work in comparison to, you know….tech billionaires and multi-hundred-millionaires who exploit labour out of people.
Not even luxury brand, GRWM in my Balenciaga flex lifestyle youtubers. Just like someone on the level of having a couple of million viewers and trying to do comedy reactions etc.
No guillotine licenses.
I’ve seen “eat the rich” ire directed towards people who make poverty wages because they have some sort of success online or popularity. And it doesn’t even have to be success! Like. I had someone lash out at me for posting mockups of products that I want people to buy, as though the hustle was evidence of untold billions.
Like. Ma'am. If I were The Rich, I would not be posting about a NerdyKeppie sale on my personal BlueSky at 2 am.
I got ire directed towards me for having a cleaner come in…. I’m disabled and spend pretty much all of my disposable income on getting a cleaner every so often, so my partner doesn’t have to do all the chores. It leaves me with a clean house and no money.
The majority of my cleaner’s clients are pretty poor, or disabled,or both. My partner males okish money, but we live in one of the most expensive cities in the world and he is also a video game designer, if you think they make a lot of money you’re dreaming.
