This is why I hate the “practicality” angle society is taking. Why do we shy away from magic when it’s literally all around us? We put a magic liquid into our cars and they pull us around for hundreds of miles without barely having to think about it. And just because we have names for all the processes, somehow the wonder of it is gone.
You bring an animal home and watch it grow and change and develop a personality around YOU and YOUR home? Magical. Oh wait that’s “just a dog” and “they all act like that” fuck you that’s AMAZING.
I’m sitting
In my bedroom
On my bed
In darkness
In silence
Swiping my thumb across a smooth glass screen
And my motions of casting this spell into this glass SENDS MY THOUGHTS OUT widely into the world.
People I’ve NEVER HEARD OF can hear my thoughts.
People in countries I can’t point out on a map can learn my face and my name.
You can know me deeply and meaningfully before I ever step foot into your COUNTRY. We could be practically the best of friends before we get close enough to even shake hands, and because we know how it works, that makes the magic somehow not magic?
Propaganda. Lies. I refuse to accept it. The world is magical.
We know the rituals. We’ve given names to the different variables, big and small. It’s still wonderful.
Now let me complete my spell by pressing the spell casting button, “reblog”!
