Reblog or reply to this post asking me to “hide” it, and I’ll see if it works. According to staff, it should make that note “hidden” for everybody on tumblr.

SOME of the notes hidden so far (there’s a constant stream so I can’t keep up for long!)

Replies are simply “deleted.”

AND WORKS ON REBLOGS where it is called “HIDE NOTE”:

Now that I’ve “hidden” these, you can only see them on their own blogs here, here, here  here, and here. Even these five users won’t see their own post when they open the notes.

Yikes?

This might be good for people getting harassment on their own posts, but the potential for malicious disinformation is pretty frightening. Remember when suggestions to mix deadly chemicals went viral? Remember how you could just open up the notes on them and see all the “DON’T DO THIS YOU WILL LITERALLY DIE” responses?

Yeah, now the OP of such a post can hide every one of those from anyone who runs across it on their dash, and keep hiding new ones if they’ve really got that much malice.

….This means that us users now have to depend more on the staff alone (oh GOD) to step in and remove harmful hoax or prank posts.

THERE ALSO DOES NOT YET APPEAR TO BE ANY UNDO OR RESTORE FUNCTION

Final update:

One or two notes re-appeared on their own, likely a glitch, and some people are saying they don’t have this functionality on their blogs yet.

I’m all deleted-out now, sorry!

Wow, this is some bullshit.

hide this!

my good sir this was 2016

what, how was I so foolish to not see that.

my dear moot this feature isn’t a thing anymore how did you not realize

But it is? I get a “hide note” in the right-click submenu?

That’s when I Google searched it and found this post.

im on mobile so guess that explains it. I’ve still never heard of this feature outside of this post though, so, you know. confusion

Ok
