Google Groups is dropping support for Usenet in February of 2024.
September 1993 is finally, finally coming to an end.
September 1993 actually came to an end in the early 00s, when broadband started replacing dial-up, and the broadband providers stopped offering Usenet access. (This was almost certainly related to the fact that, with the expanded availability of broadband, Usenet was being flooded with binaries, making the maintenance of an NNTP server more expensive, and kind of hogging the bandwidth.)
Usenet will continue past 2024, if only for the binaries.
