Anyway, because I’m already seeing conspiracy theories going around, Spotify Wrapped dropped today because it’s Wednesday. Last year it dropped Nov. 30th. A Wednesday. December 1st 2021? A Wednesday. That’s why it was the 29th this year. They drop it on Wednesday. You’re welcome.
I need you guys to understand that spreading posts around that claim Spotify Wrapped launched early to derail posting around Palestinian Solidarity Day directly fuels antisemitic conspiracies that claim Jews control the media. Whatever your reason for reblogging those posts, if you are not actively debunking them, you are absolutely 100% fueling that conspiracy. You are doing real harm. Whether you like it or not, you are doing real harm. And you are doing real harm because there is a part of you already that believes that specific conspiracy. You are actively engaging in an act of antisemitism because you actively have antisemitic beliefs. Full stop.
I don’t want to see people in the notes going, “Oh, yeah, someone pointed that out but I already reblogged the other post and I’m keeping it up because it’s helpful.” It’s fucking not. Do your own post about Palestinian Solidarity. Share orgs that are helping Palestinians. But make a post about Palestinians, not about how the Jews that control the media are concealing secrets they don’t want you to know.
And for God’s sake, work on yourself. I shouldn’t have to tell you why this is antisemitic. If you were listening to your Jewish friends, you’d already know.
