sometimes i want to help my 12 year old sister out with like. going into teenagerhood as a woman. but i know literally nothing about being a teenage girl. like “get the smallest sports bra available and stretch out the band so you dont break your ribs” is not something that helps out the average girl

fuck it guys: what is the number 1 thing you need to know when going into female or estrogen based puberty and wish you knew?

what a period looks like. when i first got mine i legit thought i was dying because i was Not prepared for blood to suddenly be emerging from there. wouldve been nice to know. also how to handle periods.

That your period shouldn’t be excruciating, that saftey razors exist and are super useful, that sports bras are genuinely more comfortable, and if you have to buy a bra without a fitting it’s generally better to size up a band size and down a cup size if you’re unsure you’ve got it right.

hold up. wdym periods arent supposed to be excruciating.

no they aren’t! mild pain is normal (cramps, back pain, the like) but if it’s making life unmanageable or like. you feel like ur gonna die from the pain, see a doctor

please tell me youre joking

no yeah they’re right actually. if you’re screaming and feeling like you’re actually dying that’s not normal. a 1-4 is normal on the pain scale I think? between 4 and 5 you’re inching into severe territory and after that you should see a doctor

non-wire bras are just as supportive and ten times more comfortable if you get the right kind! bras should, in general, be comfortable!
