every time someone tags #ableist language or something similar on a post that has the word stupid in it i have to balance the acknowledgement of meaning well against the frustration about performativity within online social justice movements being the only thing that matters on fear of doxxing and other horrific shit
look at me. look at me. if you think disabled people are going to be actively harmed and placed in emotional distress if they are forced to see someone call a netflix show “stupid”, there is definitely ableism happening, but it is coming from inside the you. treating us like we’re paper-thin porcelain weepy and sheltered, terrified of the very idea of bad words like “dumb” and “idiotic”, is the absolute paragon of disrespectful infantilizing of us, something that is actually ableist! the historic treatment of all disabled people, physically or mentally, has been one where full grown fucking adults get treated like they’re literally 5, incapable of the same level of maturity, comprehension, and existence as a “normal” adult! think about your fucking actions, my dude, and stop just blindly assuming you need to perform this bullshit when if you considered for even .2 seconds how this looks, you’d realize how bad that is!
