I’m sorry. I’m now thinking about all the mysterious human remains stories on Tumblr. I used to follow this bone identification blog because I collect bones (NOT HUMAN, just wildlife that dies naturally) and the premise was you could send a picture of a bone in and the biologist that ran the blog would identify it. Anyway, one day someone submits a photo of a long bone attached to a wooden plaque for wall-mounting with a caption that is like “This was sent to me in the mail with no return. Just want to make sure it’s not human.” and the person running the blog was like “That is definitely a human femur.” Run the image through Google. No results.

Like, the remains were almost certainly historical in nature, evident by the patina and the nature of the wall mounting. It had been drilled into for display purposes but why? Maybe, hopefully, best case scenario, an amputee’s souvenir leg? Why were they mailed to OP? No further updates, nothing else said. Just this one fucking insane post with no further context.

Maybe OP bought it at an estate sale or antique store and didn’t want to implicate themself in the possible purchase of human remains as it is illegal in some areas? That makes more sense. This is my Roman Empire. I think about it all the time. Every outcome. Every explanation. And there will never be one.
