The people swallowing every bit of propaganda from corporations and politicians are here to tell you: their creative writing degree is why they’re so much smarter than you. Your ability to analyze the physical world is useless. All that matters are the abilities to write something nobody will pay to read and to call your critics racist with as many words as possible.
Notice they only ever reference the really old conspiracy theories that never went anywhere. The scoreboard on popular conspiracy theories is not that skewed in either direction. Plus, all of those Cointelpro-type examples were conspiracy theories first! Knowing that the government got away with evil things 30+ years ago isn’t the goal. Finding out and responding appropriately *soon after the events occur* is the goal. Holding someone accountable should be the goal. Plus, whether you know the specifics or not, you should be open to the idea that the organizations that repeatedly broke the law in the past would do it today.
yeah that Twitter thread might have been onto some semblance of a point but it rapidly became mired in self-congratulatory smugness.
the reason smart people believe in “conspiracies” is because they are intelligent, they have fun abilities like critical thinking and pattern recognition, they also are not persuaded to change their beliefs and opinions based on mean words and poor arguments. 😂
