The reason why sugar is generally put in bread is for texture and taste and whatnot. But normally you put like 2-3 grams per loaf.
But in America™ where food companies are allowed to sell and market things that are straight up illegal in Europe as “food”, things are different.
Did you know some studies suggest sugar is as addictive as cocaine?
American companies have realised that upping that small amount of sugar to a big amount of sugar increases profit, so they kept increasing it and now they put an absolutely ludicrous amount of sugar in.
