boomers and gen x-ers will be like “we had REAL childhoods where we PLAYED OUTSIDE” yeah but did your parents hug you? did you ever see your mother when she wasn’t high on mommy’s little helpers? doesn’t it seem a little fucked up that your parents locked you out of the house from 9 am to 9 pm everyday now that you’re really thinking about it?

when you were a toddler, did your mother ever try to stop you from gnawing the lead paint off the doors in the dilapidated row house you grew up in? or did she just let you do it because it kept you quiet she was an overwhelmed, scared, sad girl trapped in a loveless marriage after she accidentally got pregnant with you at the age of 19? when you were a little older and your little brother fell down and scraped his knees, who put bandaids on them and kissed them better? was it you? because your mother was zoinked out staring vacantly at the little black and white TV in your living room with a glass of bourbon in one hand?
