Terfs cannot accept that their suffering is the banal result of capitalism, patriarchy, poverty, and generational abuse and instead have to blame it on some divine or divinely biological difference between male and female. Accepting that trans women are women means shifting the metaphysics of their entire worldview and they’re too intellectually weak and spiritually deficient to to do so.
