The McDonald’s french fry
is unbelievable. When you bite into it, you think: It’s so tasty, it
can’t be real. As soon as it gets cold, it turns to lard and flubble. I
mean, have you ever tried to eat a McDonald’s french fry that’s gone
cold? That’s one of the circles of hell. The gulf between the warm,
fresh, lightly salted McDonald’s french fry and the cold McDonald’s
french fry is as great a gulf as any I know. - Viggo Mortensen, Esquire magazine (x)
cannot stop thinking about the french man who during dinner responded to a person asking “should we be naughty and get desert” by pulling a face and going “naughty? it is chocolate, it is not an, uh, threesome”
Hard to believe it’s been this long already. She is a wonderful lil gal. Thank you everyone who has been following along and sending good wishes our way!

anybody else feel that being human is like being a long-time syndicated cartoon character watching the world get more complex while your own design stays the same until youre incongruous with the reality around you??
Do you ever see a complicated meme that expresses a very specific feeling, and while you wouldn’t have said it that way, it instantly resonates with you?
Nintendo is at this point a Prestige Gaming Brand, or at least they like to think they are. There’s a reason your grandpa thinks every game is a Nintendo, they’ve been around fucking forever and have Disney level brand recognition. The Nintendo seal of quality might as well be an Adidas logo. These are not children’s games everybody gets to play anymore, these are luxury items that show you have money.
Just don’t fucking buy the Switch 2. Give it a year or two, it only has like 3 exclusives anyway. Go play an indie game or emulate something old, it’s literally so easy. Don’t get caught up in wanting the shiny new thing.
I don’t think giving my audience purchasing advice I genuinely believe is at all weird, even if I do stream Switch 2 games at some point.
Scrolled past this agakn and just can’t get over how much I love it. We need to make things beautiful again and this is such a wonderful example. The beadwork on the wires of a utitarian object, contrasted with the grey concrete.
And my knee-jerk response was “no, you should hear my friends talk about their lives–”
And it made me remember something.
Back in high school, my IB class did a lock-in– where the group of students gets locked into one part of the school overnight on a weekend– and after junk food and video games lost their appeal, we got to talking.
Only I didn’t really know anything about almost any of them. They were all friendly enough, but I kept to myself for the most part, so we didn’t have much to talk about once standard small talk ran out.
So I asked one of the other people sitting with me: “what’s your story?”
Your life story.
And he told me. Sixteen years or so condensed into maybe a half hour. And it was the most fascinating life I could have imagined: the places he’d been, the things he’d done, the experiences that defined him. It boggled my mind.
When he finished and turned the question around to me, I thought mine sounded really boring in comparison, but he listened open-mouthed to the entire thing. Other kids were gathering around us by now, listening in. And when I finished mine, I turned to another one of them and asked the question to them.
And just like before, my mind was blown. A completely different life, completely different focal points, defining experiences, goals the likes of which were deserving of an anime. And the same happened with the next person we asked, and the next.
By the time each one of us had finished telling their story, it was time to go home for the morning. The video games had been abandoned hours ago. None of us had slept. We were too caught up in each other’s lives.
The masculine connotation of a bow tie and the feminine connotation of a bow on the top of the head implies a nonbinary bow style placed directly over the nose
Shit girl, this princess war is fucked. I just saw a girl clap her hands together and say “the ten disciplines” or some similar shit, and every one around her started wearing a maid dress, had her crown explode and then started sweeping the dishes. The camera didn’t even go onto her, that’s how common shit like this is. My ass is casting curtsy and level 2 kissie. I think I just heard “power word:sparkle” two groups over. I gotta get the fuck outta here.
TIK TOK MUST BE STOPPED BEFORE IT DESTROYS LANGUAGE
Ok, unless something’s going on I’m not aware of (extremely likely), I gotta point out the term “Pet Play” is significantly older than Tik Tok, or most of its userbase for that matter.
Yeah, I’m not mad about using the term “pet play”. That’s a perfectly fine term. I’m mad because they didn’t use that term: they used “pet p!ay”, a censored version
Oh. Oh gawd I missed that. Objection withdrawn, that is objectively terrible.
To anybody who is new to posting on ao3, if you’re using a tag you have to use the correct spelling of that tag. People aren’t going to type in every version of a censored word to hide or look for your content
For everyone new to tumblr, the same rule applies to tumblr too.
You cannot censor your tags! Censored tags cannot be block or filtered. Censoring tags HARMS your audience, it does not protect them
Can we all give pavel cakes and cookies and treats and taurs and plants and animals and butterflies and bees and sing him songs every morning noon and night #MyQuastion
“you have to buy switch 2 games, don’t you think the workers deserve to be paid?” that’s not how that works. that’s not how any of this works. you dumb motherfucker. they get a salary. they don’t get royalties
Also the commercial success of a game doesn’t mean that the employees keep their jobs, just in case anyone’s forgotten about all the closures of studios right after releasing wildly successful games
we used to have normalized whump. remember what they took from you….
back in the day you could write about the most sickeningly vile atrocious war crimes happening to your blorbo and everyone was like. kyaaaaaaaa >w<. they just got it. they understood
it fucking sucks being a disabled person who can’t work and having to see these fuckass posts where someone’s like “ahaha jobless people have no life and that’s why everyone shitty online has No Job” and everyone and their mother reblogs it joyfully onto my dash for me to see. yes unemployed and unemployable people are truly without exception dogshit people with no hobbies and no redeeming qualities. you’re so right. anyway if you’ll excuse me i have to start my shift at the I’ll Never Be Employed Because Of Permanent Disability And I Love Knowing How You Really See Me store
if ur able to work can u reblog this i am seriously SO sick of it.
btw this isn’t solely a disability rights issue or an issue about people who are entirely unable to work. you should also be thinking about the people who are regarded as unhireable. transfems are hugely discriminated against in this way, people of color are passed over for less qualified white people, anyone who has any difficulty playing the interview game is less hireable… frankly anyone who made the mistake of pursuing the things they love and now has a degree for a niche field. if you still joke about Jobless People it’s because you’ve fundamentally connected the worth of people to their labor, and specific labor, work that you see as valuable. and while i’m at it stop making fun of people who still live with their parents. asshole.
Gröning proposed the idea for the film to the monks in 1984, but the Carthusians said they wanted time to think about it. They responded to him 16 years later to say they were willing to permit him to shoot the movie if he was still interested.
[Image ID: Post from Slippy (@/ damnSlippy.slippy.me) reading: Sincerely delighted to discover, 45 minutes into this nearly-wordless three-hour documentary about French monks who take vows of silence, is that among the reasons they *can* talk is “to make sure they monastery cats know when it’s mealtime by making little kitty-calling noises at them.” /End ID]
I went to an exhibition on the history of migration and colonial rhetoric in Australia and it really helped me to pinpoint my exact issue with the way non-Australians (and. tbh. some aussies) talk about this country
this map is a piece of propaganda from 1921. honestly what shocked me about it was how little of Australia is marked out as “uninhabited”. I have seen maps shared around on this website that basically mark out the entirety of non-coastal Australia as “empty”. fucking colonialists from 1921 were more generous than some of you
the history of colonial Australia is a history of “taming the untameable land”. this has been reinforced through narratives that this country is:
inherently dangerous
uninhabitable
empty
this rhetoric survives in both the way Australia is imagined by non-Australians and in the self-image of Australia. the (white) aussie battler conquers the unconquerable. the outback is imagined as a post-apocalyptic hellscape. our fauna is categorised as uniquely hellish and unwieldy. so when non-Australians make joke after joke about how scared they are of this place. well you can imagine why it fills me with the kind of rage that can only be generated by the understanding that You Are Reinforcing Colonialism
If your goals basically amount to “after The Revolution everything will be great because people will all have the Good Ethics and work together in my Perfect System and the Evil People with Bad Morals and Bad Behaviour who are making this world bad will be gone (killed/imprisoned/exiled/all converted to agree with us when they see our Perfect System)” then that’s just fascism. I hate to say it but you’ve put a gay socialist hat on fascism.
The MAGA people are still gonna be around in your Perfect System and a very large proportion of them are still gonna be Like That. We can discourage antisocial behaviour through laws and education and changing cultural norms, but if plans for future society involve [group I’m opposed to] magically not being part of it so the Good People can Do Things Right, well.
✨No Bad Guys Here✨ - how do you want to enforce that.
