A while back my pharmacist saw my deadname on my profile and accidentially called it out, he corrected and deleted my deadname from the system so only my preferred name shows up now. There was a crowd of people behind me, so as he hands over the pills he apologized, in equal tone and volume as when he called my deadname and lied saying it’s been a long day and he didn’t mean to call out -his own- name. I quietly told him it was fine and he didn’t need to do that for my sake.
His response: “No, it’s my name now.”
I went to the pharmacist yesterday, his nametag is my deadname. He informed me he’s immigrating and in the process he’s changed his first name to my deadname to have an English sounding name. That’s why he’s now able to get a reprint of his nametag to be my deadname. And repeated, with the intense seriousness of someone who is going to die on this hill: “It’s mine now. Not yours. I’m taking.” His tone indicated that decision is final.
Bro literally deadnamed me once, and has committed to flat out stealing my deadname. It’s his now. Legally. Officially. I over heard his co-workers call him by the name.
i kind of really hate the framing of “culture war” to describe the political class’ transphobia and i hate how ubiquitous it is to call it that. almost as much as i hate the framing of it as a “distraction” or “wedge issue” or whatever euphemistic term ppl wanna use to frame reaction to destabilization or even just reformulation of the sexgender system as just an opportunistic method of gaining political power. would it kill ppl to acknowledge that transphobia and transmisogyny are real ideologies that serve actual purposes in maintaining the integrity of the family institution as the fundamental unit of class society and its constituent gendered gears, and that when reactionaries say they want to wipe us out of existence to defend the integrity of the family and society, they are not lying or being irrational or even misrepresenting the situation, they are just directly and honestly describing their goals. when “progressive” liberals decry this as slander, they are just projecting as per their own duplicity of wanting to maintain gendered class society via recuperating deviants into it as semi-integrated underclasses. from that weaselly perspective, calling this a “culture war” makes sense; to them it is a war of just deciding the best way to maintain cisheteropatriarchy. at least the reactionaries are honest about their desire to subjugate us
like, okay, consent does literally just mean agree. which is what enables this little rhetorical trick. because there’s all this cultural emphasis on sexual consent, which is just expressed as consent, a lot of phrases whose intended meanings are “rape is bad” can be taken literally to mean “i should get to agree to everything that happens in my vicinity.”
for an example, “i didn’t agree to seeing you wear that shirt” is straightforwardly a fucking insane thing for someone to say, but people regularly make use of this trick to make the (functionally identical) statement “i didn’t consent to seeing that”
Strongly recommend that people familiarize themselves with the white supremacist concept of “right to comfort” because of how scarily that concept aligns with this behavior

It’s never worth engaging with an interviewer that has malicious intent. There’s no good point you can make that they can’t simply redact or spend an infinite amount of time figuring out how to spin in a negative. You’ve almost certainly seen some right wing interviewers who are so inept at this that they make themselves look bad, but even they’re not worth the risk talking to. Their base does not care at best, and it’ll help them at worst.

FBI is really just straight up developing Trojan horse apps now
The people in the comments are amazing, like, half of them are saying “aren’t these the normal permissions for an fitness app?” And the answer is yes. Of course they are. Your regular fitness app is a takes a ton of data on you in order to function, and that data may or may not be stored with the company for a period of time.
But here’s the thing, when the FBI needs location data on someone, they need a WARRANT to get that information from that company, or that company’s cooperation. Back in the early 2000s, there were a number of companies that simply handed over data to letter agencies like the NSA or FBI, and they got roasted for it by their customers. Don’t fool yourself, the only reason why backdoors weren’t coded into your phones by companies like Apple is because they did the math and realized that the cost of cooperating and alienating their customer base was too high, not because these companies have ethics.
So we live in a climate where companies are promising users security and privacy, and when they don’t it’s a scandal that loses them customers and money. They aren’t playing nice with the FBI, so what is the FBI to do? Easy. Circumvent silicon valley.
There is exactly zero reason for the FBI, as an organization, to make entertainment apps. Educational is maybe in line with past practices, but even when they did stuff like that in the 90s, we called it out for the propaganda it was. This app is absolutely a trojan horse. This is so they can get the data you would normally give to a 3rd party company without a warrant.
Please, ffs, learn internet history. Go take a look at the EFF website and archives. Look up the patriot act and the AT&T scandal with the NSA from around 2004. Lots of people on here were barely children pre 9/11, but you can’t possibly understand surveillance and internet policing until you understand what happened to society and privacy from 2001-2010
