The Myklebust Ship, believed to be the largest Viking ship ever discovered, stands as a testament to the ingenuity of Norse craftsmanship. At 30 meters (98 feet) long, this extraordinary vessel was uncovered in Nordfjordeid, Norway, within a cremation burial mound dating back over 1,000 years. Likely belonging to King Audbjørn of the Fjords, it symbolizes the power and prestige of Viking royalty.

Today, the ship is reborn at the Sagastad Viking Center, where a full-scale replica invites visitors to step into the world of the Vikings. Completed in 2019 using traditional techniques, the replica is not just for show—it’s fully seaworthy and occasionally launched on the fjord. The remains of 7,000 rivets and 44 shield bosses tell a story of strength and status, connecting us to a time when these ships ruled the seas.

Playing the undermine campaign had me wondering why Renzik didn’t have a voice actor. I now know why but for the time I didn’t, I started headcanoning him as being mute.

You’d be hard pressed to find another goblin who knows signing but since it’s simply in character for Gazlowe, it only makes sense for him to have learned it. That also does mean that Renzik can rip into someone without them ever knowing.

i appreciate everyone on that post pointing out that being bad at computers doesn’t mean you’re stupid but unfortunately this is a coworker who won’t stop feeding their dog york peppermint patties

the funniest part is that i agree in principle that all kinds of intelligence have value and dysfunctional processes are born of dysfunctional systems, but in practice i work with scabsy the papillon poisoner, who once tried to tank a union contract with universal $3 hourly raises because they were mad at Me Specifically for not backing them up when they said juneteenth shouldn’t be a paid holiday

you may think you know why they were opposed to juneteenth as a paid holiday. but none of the other racists in the union or management had a problem with it, because saying no to a paid day off for literally any reason is fool behavior.

scabsy, however, has a specific monthly process that’s due on the 19th of every month. so having a holiday on the 19th of june fucks with their due date. you might ask, wouldn’t this also apply to every 19th that falls on a weekend? and you would be right. the other union members also pointed this out. and pointed out the many, many holidays that fuck with the timing on their jobs. including me, the person who regularly loses two days off a four day process for holidays i don’t actually celebrate.

so while scabsy is racist, that is not why they spent an hour at my desk the next day berating me for being mean and not a team player before realizing i did not give a shit about them and switching tactics to telling management that the union was asking for too much and they should vote down the contract

Before writing that Black queer &/or trans character, ask yourself:

Image ID: a pdf file of a word document that reads as follows:

"Things To Ask Yourself When Writing That Black Queer/Trans Character

When you’re writing that Black trans character, are you making sure to consider how they would be perceived in the moment, both in story and outside?

Do you feel like your Black queer/trans character has to sacrifice their culture to be who they are? Why?

Is this an intentional plot point, or did you just think that was The Answer?

When you say this Black trans character “passes”- by whose standard? That of whiteness?

When you say this Black nonbinary character is “androgynous”- by whose standard? That of whiteness?

Do you associate certain things to gender presentation, that their culture may not?

E.g. long hair. Long locs are not considered a feminine look on Black men, but the sister locs style might be considered feminine. Are you aware of patterns like this?

Do you feel like these Black characters have to pass in order to be “validly” trans? Do you hold your white characters to this standard?

When you’re writing this story, if you want to say “oh everyone in my world is unaffected by these things”, very well! It’s nice to have stories like that! But are you having White Queer Main Character go through the real-world scourge of discovering sexuality/gender, and then act like Black Queer Main Character just lives life willy nilly?

Why? Is that explained in-story?

Are you doing the opposite? Is this on purpose?

Are you avoiding giving that Black queer/trans character that depth in their background because you are scared of/don’t want to do the research?

If you feel this way, do you think you should continue? Are you willing to take the risk of it being rejected, upon someone potentially seeing the lack of effort?

What made you want to write a character with this identity, if you did not want to know them? What purpose does them having this identity serve, other than ‘being cool’, if you weren’t interested in it depicting it well?

Have you consumed any media written by Black people that compose of the group you’re trying to write? Why not?

When you come up with your “ship pairings”, do you reject Black people as queer? Why?

Why does this Black woman not strike you as bi? Why does this Black man not strike you as gay? Is it because you don’t see Blackness as in line with what you see queerness as" END ID

Image ID: pdf file of a word document that reads as follows:

"How do your views of Blackness and sexuality affect how you treat Black characters that are canonically queer?

Do you feel like you have to have “more proof” in order to accept that a Black character is queer? Why?

Do you feel like your Black characters have to be bolder about their sexuality in order for it to be valid? Why? Why do you not hold your nonblack characters to this standard?

Do you feel like your Black male characters have to be feminine in order to be acceptably gay? Did you even notice you did that?

Do you feel that being masculine would make them threatening, or less gay? Why? Did you even notice you did that?

Do you feel like your feminine Black male characters are somehow “less Black” if they’re not stereotypical? Did you even notice that you did that?

Do you feel like your Black female characters have to be masculine? Why? Did you even notice that you did that?
Do you feel like your Black character has to be the top, and does that come with an automatically “dominating” personality? Why? Is it like this for all your Black characters?

No, there’s nothing wrong with writing a Black character that is also a dom and a top. It happens. However, what matters is the why, and also, this next part:

And are these dynamics specifically made around a paler, maybe white character that plays a demurer role?" END ID

Another set of resources that I’ve typed up for my upcoming lesson. I’m sure that even more questions could be asked; I hope that Black folk feel free to include their own additions in the tags! But these ought to be enough to at least get anyone to start self-reflecting during their creation/watching process!

“What is a video game” is one of those questions that will drive you to madness partially because video games are kind of more of a medium than a specific art form but also because there’s a certain amount of subjective “you know it when you see it” aspect to it. A fitbit obviously isn’t a video game, it’s a device that gameifies exercise.

Ultimately you just have to draw an arbitrary line somewhere. In case you were wondering, for me a visual novel is a video game but a kinetic novel (visual novel with no choices) isn’t, so the line is in there somewhere

Tags courtesy of @a-kind-of-merry-war that really explain this artwork!

this doesn’t do it justice!!! look at this beast! i went to see it a year ago and its a phenomenal experience, 10/10!!

it lights up and everything, all the different parts are making noises - like there’s classical music AND rock music layering over each other, old talk shows and just radio static! god i love babel so much!

and what’s even better is that the higher up you go, the more modern the machines get - like it’s old radios at the bottom and iphones/ipods at the top and they ALL still make noise like can you IMAGINE

anyway yeah if you get a chance to see it definitely go see it!

OP actually brings up a good point. I don’t know much about forks or kitchens, but I recently learned that forks can regularly be found in kitchens. In fact, forks are almost always produced so they can find use in kitchens as a means of moving food from ones plate to ones mouth. This makes a lot of sense when you think about how most people eat somewhere close to their kitchen, so storing forks in the kitchen, situated for greatest ease of use, is actually the ideal place for them. So if you ever need a fork, you can generally find one in the kitchen.

The real problem with the Hasbro monolith re-defining “indie RPG” to mean “literally any tabletop RPG that isn’t Dungeons & Dragons” is that now when you ask somebody what their favourite obscure indie RPG is, that twelve page zine game about robot catgirls having sex with each other is competing for oxygen with, like, Vampire: The Masquerade, and that’s just not good for the ecosystem.

Somebody over on my Bluesky jokingly referred to the hypothetical game described in the preceding post as “Sapphörk Borg”, and I can’t get the image out of my head. Like… what would building a lightweight zine game about lesbian robot catgirls making out using fucking Mörk Borg as its foundation look like in practice?

Anyway, here’s my Mörk Borg hack about lesbian robot catgirls making out. I don’t know whether a digital publication counts as a “zine,” but it is 12 pages.

I meant for this to be a shitpost game, but I think it started being good??? at some point. It also might not work even a little. It’s a weird game. I had the note “Resist the urge to make this a GMless hack of Mörk Borg about gay robot catgirls,” in my design document for most of the process, but I think it ended up being a teensy bit GMless anyway.

I haven’t playtested it at all as you might expect based on the one-week turnover, so if anyone does run it please tell me what happened.

Without further ado, it is with great pride and even greater apologies to the Swedish language that I present…

If I had a nickel for every time someone wrote a short-form tabletop RPG about gay catgirls based on one of my Tumblr posts, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.
