your 'jerking it to the smell of isopropyl alcohol' post has me remembering how i used to be so ashamed of having any sexual desires that i only allowed myself to jack off to the mental image of an arial drone shot of a pine forest
Someone:I wish some people weren’t so hostile over headcanons and let other headcanons exist outside of theirs.
People with poor reading comprehension: WAAH!!! THEY’RE SAYING WE CAN’T HAVE OUR HEADCANONS!!!! ANYWAYS THIS CHARACTER IS X, SORRY I DON’T MAKE THE RULES!!!!! ANYBODY THAT DISAGREES WITH US IS AN X-PHOBE!!!!!
sometimes I read a radioactively bad take and just sit there like “not only do you not understand this story but you fundamentally do not understand how stories work in general, and you have never considered that your discord with every piece of fiction you come across could possibly be a problem on your end”
EXCELLENT TAGS OP SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK

Plain text: excellent tags OP say it louder for the people in the back
I hate how oddly sexualized breasts are, and how oddly sexualized bedrooms are, and I hate how anything not inherently sexual gets sexualized, it was hot outside and me and my boyfriend were watching his friend repair his truck at my house and I had a shirt off and only my binder on since yk it was hot out, and the other guys also had their shirts off and it was considered fine, but when me and my boyfriend went to go relax in the ac in my room I changed from my binder to a sports bra cause my ribs hurt and kept a shirt off cause I was still sweating a lot and really hot, and my mom came in complaining about how I need to wear a shirt and how it’s weird to wear only a bra in a bedroom with your significant other even though she knows I’m ace and she thinks it’s weird since he isn’t ace and I have breasts and bedrooms are sexualized, why is it okay to not have a shirt as one assigned gender and not the other, why are certain environments more sexualized than others, it makes no sense especially since we weren’t doing anything sexual, neither me nor him made it weird, but my mom was making a huge deal out of having tits in a bedroom
maybe it’s cause I’m autistic or maybe cause I’m asexual but I think the oversexualization of literally everything is weird
OP you are so right. Literally so right. For example:
My adult sister doesn’t wear a bra when she’s comfortable at home. she lives with me and our parents. my mom will throw a fit because ‘dad shouldn’t have to see that’. my father literally does not care. it’s just my mom making a thing of it and that makes it uncomfortable for everyone.
said adult sister is ten years older than me (a minor). her boyfriend is fiver years older than her. sometimes, I like to walk around the house in just a sports bra bc comfy. if sisters bf is around my mother will throw a fit. sisters bf does not freaking care. sister does not freaking care.
and get this! for the longest time I had no titties!!! i still barely have any. my sister literally says 'you looked like you have the chest of a little boy. so if that made him uncomfortable i’d have to assume he was into little boys.’
LITERALLY NO ONE IS MAKING A BIG DEAL OUT OF THIS BUT YOU. YOU ARE MAKING IT WEIRD. SO FREAKING WEIRD. PLEASE STOP AND GET OVER YOURSELF.
I’ve been slowly combating this by wearing tinier and tinier tank tops to desensitize myself (luckily the parent I live with sometimes is not so weird about that so it’s a lot of fighting my own body image that I’m dealing with). I’ve gotten to the point of comfortably wearing short tank tops
if this method has worked so well for increasing my comfort and confidence in what clothes I wear, I think it could be helpful for combatting the judgmental people in your life
to everyone who has been talked out of testosterone HRT because it will make you “scary”: no it will not. testosterone isn’t “scary”. masculinization isn’t “scary”. being masculine or a man isn’t “scary”. it’s just another way to be a person. testosterone HRT is a good thing. it helps many people. if you want to take it, take it. don’t let anyone else tell you not to because it “scares” them. it’s not happening to them. their fears don’t matter to you. it’s happening to you. it’s your choice.
/r/China used to be a virulently anti-China subreddit that constantly posted negative articles from western propaganda outlets like Radio Free Asia and there would be hundreds of comments circlejerking over it. the top posts have hundreds of comments and 10s of thousands of upvotes. they have 525,000~ members. mind you, there was zero positive sentiment about China even a few weeks ago. it was very obvious no one in this subreddit had ever even been to China much less lived there.
despite this, since USAID cuts started, for some reason, the sub is totally dead and the top post right now has a score of 70, 88 comments, is basically “Deepseek bad” and the comments are shitting all over it. there’s virtually no anti-China sentiment in the community altogether.
weird…
I saw the same thing on a recent Wallstreet journal youtube video about another Chinese “ghost city” and the comments were 99% people calling out the propaganda for being obvious propaganda. And talking about how wasteful public spending projects are in their own countries. I genuinely think you’re right.
yeah, to be clear, i am not a person who believes heavily in conspiracy theories. but everywhere that i am used to seeing overwhelmingly negative sentiment re: China, it’s cooled off tremendously.
i am still seeing comments, but there’s a stark difference in how fast they shoot up in score on all of the platforms and how consistently they’re found at the top of the discussion.
i’m sure that there will still be organic, natural discussions about negative things going on in China because there are definitely things to discuss, but i’m not exaggerating when i say that the tone shift across virtually every social media that i use is very noticeable. it could also be because of the whole RedNote phenomena, but it seems like a pretty significant and sudden change to be just that.

if a surgeon says you have to fast, you have to fast. end of story.
if a surgeon says your child has to fast, they have to fast. even if they are rreeeaaaallly hungry. even if they beg for food. even if they cry. even if they throw a tantrum. even if they scream for hours.
if a surgeon says you have to fast, you have to fast.
For a bit more context/plainer language from a child life specialist:
the medicine the doctor gives you to make you sleep, called anesthesia, makes you sleep differently than you do at night. Medicine sleep is so deep that the muscle that keeps your stomach closed falls asleep too.
Your stomach and your lungs are connected by your esophagus, which connects to your mouth and brings air to your lungs and food into your stomach.
Because you’ll be laying flat on your back, This means if you have food in your stomach it can come up out of your stomach, and because they’re connected by your esophagus, food or drink that comes out of your stomach can go into your lungs.
Because they aren’t supposed to have stuff other than air in them, having food or drinks in your lungs can make you really sick.
The doctors really don’t want that to happen, which is why they ask you not to eat or drink anything the day you’re having your surgery/whatever you’re getting anesthesia for. It can be really hard but it’s important!

SoftBank Group Chief Executive Masayoshi Son says he has rekindled his appetite for investing in technology by talking with ChatGPT in the wee hours about ideas for inventions that the bot validated as wonderful.
Son, 65 years old, told shareholders Wednesday that the artificial-intelligence tool helped revive his spirits after he had been driven to tears by the sense he was nearing the end of his career without having pursued his dreams. …
He said he used ChatGPT every day for brainstorming and has come up with more than 600 ideas. He described one lengthy exchange—at around 3 to 4 in the morning—in which he pitched an idea and then answered the AI chatbot as it raised objections.
“After we repeated this several dozen times, I really felt great because my idea was praised as feasible and wonderful,” he said.
let me put this in terms you understand. our pet liberal, Stephanie Bethany Grace Smith Ruth Tyler, is visiting the DNC in the sky because you let her pokemon go to the polls across a 10-lane motorway while you were meant to be holding her accountable and pushing her to the left. hand side of the pavement
really heavily reject this idea that just by virtue of being oppressed you understand everything about all types of oppression, and that reading theory is unnecessary or is something that unoppressed people do to make themselves feel good. do not fall for this trap. you need to be reading . you need to be learning. your own ideas are good but they can only carry you so far. learn from others.
there’s a cherry blossom tree in DC that keeps blooming every year even though it shouldn’t and the park service keeps thinking it’s dead and then it keeps blooming! well they’re removing a lot of trees to rehabilitate the area and they’ve said it’s finally time for stumpy to go and they’re going to mulch it and use the mulch to enrich all the other trees so it can help everything else keep going. and they’re also going to plant spliced little pieces of it all over so that stumpy can live forever and this is genuinely sending me into a spiral
For added context on what rehabilitating the area means: there are structural issues with the Tidal Basin seawall that cause flooding like this independent of rainfall. Big portions of the sidewalk in Stumpy’s section are regularly submerged, which is bad for the land and the trees themselves, not to mention an accessibility issue for visitors.
It’s sad that Stumpy and many other trees in the area will need to be cut down, but it will ensure the continued survival of the other trees in the area, and Stumpy himself will live on in his cuttings!
I believe Stumpy will be taken to the national arboretum and his clones will return to the tidal basin after the rebuilding.
Someone left him a bottle of bourbon as an offering.
The Japanese Embassy came to pay him honor this week.
Stumpy and his cohort are part of the original gift from Japan more than 100 years ago, and many have lived this long bc the National Parks takes care of them. Normally the trees live about 40-50 years.
Republicans deliberately use coded language to trick people to vote for them and radicalize their group. Many don’t even realize they’re radicalized or what they’re saying is even racist. This is why they think the Left is “over reacting” because the either know they’re using coded language and don’t care, or they don’t know anything at all.
Single funniest piece of Shakespeare merch I have ever seen.
[Image ID taken from alt: Packaging on a bar of soap. Front reads, “Lady Macbeth’s Guest Soap.” There is a little picture of a castle with a spot of blood next to it, and the words “Out, damned spot!” underneath. Side of the packaging reads, “Try it in the Macbath!” Other side reads, “Will all great Neptune’s ocean wash this blood clean from your hand?” In bigger text, “Will it ever!” Back of package: “…who would have thought the old man to have so much blood in him or a vegetable soap with glycerine to have so much shea butter, cocoa butter, olive oil, and grapeseed oil enriched with creamy buttermilk?” The labels state “Not tested on animals” and give the maker as The Unemployed Philosophers Guild (at www.philosophersguild.com), and a sticker added to the packaging tells you it costs $4.95 (CAD). The final two sides of the soap bar have a tartan pattern. /End ID]

Had a tiny mental breakdown at work a lil while ago over “Not tonight I have a headache”, and how people so often seem unable to just take no for an answer, and by golly I hope nobody still has to say “Not tonight I have a headache” seriously in 2025 (unless you have an actual headache ofc it’s your dime)
Objective brain injury and associated cognitive impairment were noted as long as 1 year after infection with SARS-CoV-2.
Some patients with acute COVID-19 develop encephalitis and associated cognitive deficits. In addition, even among people with mild acute COVID-19, residual brain damage has been reported: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) from before and after COVID-19 showed gray matter loss that was not seen in matched control patients who didn’t have COVID-19 (NEJM JW Gen Med Jun 1 2022 and Nature 2022; 604:697), and objective tests of cognition showed deficits that lasted at least 1 year after acute illness (NEJM JW Gen Med Mar 15 2024 and N Engl J Med 2024; 390:806).
In a multi-institutional U.K. study, researchers followed 351 people who had been hospitalized for acute COVID-19 (with or without neurological findings) and 3000 matched controls who didn’t have COVID-19. All patients were assessed with MRI, subjective reports of cognition, formal cognitive testing, and serum markers of injury to neurons and astrocytes. Compared with controls, post–COVID-19 patients were more likely to have global cognitive deficits (subjective and objective), reduced volumes in several brain regions, and multiple serum markers of neuronal and astrocyte injury. Risk for neurocognitive sequelae was greater in patients with more-severe initial infections, postacute psychiatric symptoms, and encephalopathy during acute COVID-19. Encouragingly, longitudinal follow-up in 106 patients revealed a trend toward recovery.
tumblr users love reading. you literally stopped for this post just because it has words in it
this is one of my favorite bits about tumblr
the users seem to actually prefer text posts to anything else, and treat it as a chore to play a video especially with sound

Not to go “if you have ADHD just go for a run” or anything, but I am so serious if you have ADHD you should regularly go outside, no headphones no phone no nothing and just stand and observe for a while until you’ve had enough. Not until you get bored, until you’ve had enough. Drink your coffee without watching tiktok. Have a bath without music. Turn down the volume in your headphones. I cannot overstate how much learning to be bored is cruicial with ADHD. Life is not just about pleasure, no matter what your dysregulated dopamine system thinks, and when you teach your brain to be okay with being bored, then boring tasks stop feeling like torture. By letting yourself be bored you are yoinking your system out of the high/low binary and allow for the highs to feel like actual highs and not just anything that isn’t low. I am so serious go literally touch grass. Listen to the sounds in your flat. Stimulate your body the way it was designed. It lowers anxiety and makes you feel like you’re real and best of all it’s completely free
I really wish more ADHD mental health care told you WHY things like this matter to our quality of life.
The Hyperactivity in Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is NOT about being physically hyperactive, it’s about having a “hyperactive central nervous system” because it’s a form of inheritable dysautonomia. The problem with disautonomia, especially the ADHD kind, is that it makes boredom flag to your nervous system as a THREAT, triggering hyperactive and maladaptive central nervous system processes like fight or flight.
But dysautonomia kills you that way. Literally, part of the reason our average life spand increase on stimulents is that it helps manage risk-taking impulsivity that can get us killed by accident, but the other part is that stimulents can regulate a hyperactive CNS such that it is functionally (while impacted by the stimulent) NOT dysregulated anymore. And PHYSIOLOGICALLY that is essential because the physical outcomes of dysautonomia can reduce your life span by YEARS if not decades through self-perpetuating hypervigelence, endocrine disruption, and adrenal fatigue.
So when the ADHD brain goes stimulation-seeking and a doctor tells you to practice mindfulness, it feels like being told “hey go stand in a functioning boiler until you can stop thinking” rather than WHAT IT IS which is the process of re-teaching your body what is and isn’t safe.
Standing outside making mindful, non-interpretive/moralized observation of the world helps your brain and body re-acclimate to the idea that absence of that frantic “busy” feeling isn’t a threat or a risk to your safety, and gradually reduces the level of distress that just hanging out somewhere triggers for you.
Learning WHY this stuff was being suggested and understanding what it was actually supposed to do went a long way towards changing my relationship with my ADHD. I am FAR more functional now, far less prone to shame spirals and rejection sensitivity, hell, I can **sit physically still for near on an hour at a time** now without feeling like I’m going to crawl out of my skin.
So yeah. Go outside. Let the world narrow around you and take deep breaths until it stops feeling claustrophobic or like you need to climb walls. Learn how to let little sensations become big ones like the way the heat of the sun on your skin starts as a gentle warming and be omes a unique collection of sensory moments depending on how it lands on you. Listen for sounds under sounds and let them fade in and out as you move your focus from one sound to the next. Enjoy. Move on. Rinse and repeat.
When you no longer feel like the world is actively killing you, it’s a lot easier to navigate it.
S++ tier addition to the post, thank you tumblr user butts bouncing on the beltway
Good morning everyone. A heavy topic, for this morning, regarding anyone submitted who’s a bigot or has abused another.
I want to clarify something: When I receive accusations without sources, I am being asked to trust a random stranger about a celebrity I may or may not know. In this day in our age, misinformation spreads like wildfire. On my own blog, I do not share political posts without waiting a couple days to see that it, usually without fail, has been debunked, or was presented in hyperbolic language. Though you, yourself, are a trustworthy person, I do not have a relationship of trust with you, or the person you’re telling me about.
What makes me trust the accusations is links and sources that are able to be substantiated - proof that this is happening outside of tumblr, outside of social media.
When you send accusations without sources, none of us are trying to call your authenticity into question. It’s easy to share misinformation online.
[image ID: Text reading Texas State Aquarium staff stated that the animals have been getting a little restless. One of the employees had an idea to let some of the land animals spend time with some of the sea animals, and it has worked out brilliantly.
Putting the sloths near the dolphins was the biggest surprise of all. The dolphins are absolutely delighted with the sloths, and the sloths, normally very quiet animals, have been squeaking replies back to the dolphins for hours at a time. Who would have guessed these two species would be such a great match?
There is a photo of two dolphins in a large pool, their heads peeking out above the water to look at a brown sloth, who is hanging on a branch. End ID]
As alien species encounters go, this is like the absolute best possible outcome
Okay but in the video the dolphins swim upside down like they’re imitating the sloth and it’s real cute.
THANK YOU FOR FINDING VIDEO! IDK WHY I DIDN’T THINK TO CHECK YOUTUBE! THIS VIDEO IS AMAZING!!!
Here are even more animals visiting each others!!
Oh my gosh, thank you for sharing this! This is so precious!!!
lmao all the animals are all like What, In the name of FUCK? Is THAT?
every time I do a web search, right at the top I have AI info dumping on me
just give me the top result please
Swear in your search request. I know it sounds ridiculous, but the most effective way I’ve found of it not doing the AI summary is just to add “fucking” go my search.
i need you to be aware that you can make a giant batch of caramelized onions to keep in the freezer and defrost at will. that is legal and they can’t stop you. they can’t take this from you
they freeze super well, last forever, and you can section them off into cubes or flatten them in ziploc bags & break off pieces as needed. add them to sandwiches, soups, meat, veggies. sweet and savory. transformative. instant flavor bomb. you deserve this
