Hi, I'm genuinely looking for an explanation here and not looking for an argument /srs
Can you explain how calling a transfem a TERF for spreading ideology that I genuinely assumed was included in the definition of TERFism is othering ? Not to be that guy, but I'm autistic and I'm having a very hard time connecting the points you're making, and I genuinely want to learn and understand what you're saying /gen
Again, I do hope this doesn't come off as hostile, I am genuinely trying to learn and understand better, and I want to be able to fix misconceptions about what a TERF is in my own mind, and I haven't seen anyone bring this point up before /gen
You absolutely do not have to answer this, but I hope you have a fabulous rest of your day, and I do apologize for what I said, as it wasn't necessary for me to comment on the situation.
Yeah totally! Okay, I got a lot of this from Ibram X. Kendi’s “How to be Antiracist”* where he talks about describing “racist” as an identity means that hardly anyone is going to ever “identify” with it, even if they are a racist. It’s much more helpful to talk about actions being racist or anti-racist. Someone committing racist acts speaks far more to the vulnerability of anyone to cause harm, rather than it being something ONLY reserved for someone with the identity of “racist”. For example, Clarence Thomas, a black man, has done untold amounts of harm to the black population in the US. If we subscribe to the “oh, (X) can’t be racist, they are (a minority)” train of thought, it means people are less likely to understand that Clarence Thomas commits racist acts. In the same way, describing yourself as an anti-racist is not enough, as it can let people be comfortable with racist actions because they think “oh, I’m an anti-racist, I can’t commit acts of racial harm.” That’s why it’s more helpful to describe acts as racist and anti-racist rather than framing them as identities.
In a similar way, describing someone as the label of “TERF” can have a similar effect. Because it’s specifically a label centered around being anti-trans, transgender people of all kinds will easily assume they cannot be transphobic, because the label of TERF is ideologically opposed to their existence. It invites ridicule rather than introspection. By saying actions can be transphobic, I think it helps a lot more because it’s easier to understand that trans people can be transphobic. For example, Blaire White is right there. Despite being a trans woman, she is actively doing transphobic acts. By calling out an action as transphobic rather than describing someone as a “TERF”, it helps fight back against the idea that being trans means you cannot be transphobic. For a super duper simple example, I can step on my dogs tail, but it doesn’t mean I hate dogs, it means I committed an act of harm against my dog. Describing me as a dog-hater when I LOVE dogs would invite ridicule more than it would a tendency to watch my step when my dog is in the house. I hope this makes sense!
*I’m not trying to say the Black and Trans experience is exactly the same, just that like any oppressed group, there is a lot of overlap in tactics and thinking, especially for people who are Black and Trans. Reading about other groups can really give you a ton of helpful insight on how to work within your own identity!
oh, yeah totally, i would really appreciate it if more people knew about this approach because it really helped me be more introspective towards my own capacity for harm! really recommend “how to be antiracist” in general, very perspective-changing.

who’s gonna tell tumblr that executive dysfunction is more than Not Doing Things?
okay
these are the executive functions. impairment of these functions is executive dysfunction
Oh.
OH
Girl, help. None of my executives are functioning
So today I learned neurotypicals can regulate alertness, sustain effort, and sustain attention to tasks.
Also that whole “write a list of everything you have to do then put it in priority order” never worked for me if my assignments all had the same deadline. Things make so much sense now. Damn.
I’m Anas Basil, a recent high school graduate with dreams of a brighter future through studying e-business management and building a career. But the war has shattered everything. After graduating with a 93% average, I enrolled at Khan Younis Training College (UNRWA), only to find that it’s now a shelter for displaced families instead of a place for education.
My younger brother, Ahmad, 14, is known as the “Doctor of the Future” because of his extraordinary talent in mathematics. However, the war has kept him out of school for two consecutive years. Ahmad is also a gifted football player who used to win tournaments, but the war has taken that away from him too.
The war forced our family to flee to Rafah, where we lived in a tent for several months. Every day is a struggle for survival—fetching water, gathering wood, and making a fire.
🎯 We are seeking €29,000 to:
- Secure safe passage out of Gaza and cover education fees to help us pursue our dreams.
- Provide Basic Essentials—food, clean water, and medical supplies—to support our family’s day-to-day survival in Gaza.
for pride month 2024 we’re gonna nuke 10 of your mutuals’ blogs and 9 of them are run by transfems 😍
this is about the blogger you’re thinking about. this is about the blogger who had thousands of followers and got nuked for no reason. this is about the one who was always kind and understanding and never did anything wrong, never broke TOS.
but it’s also about the blogger you’ve never heard of. it’s about the one on your DNI. this is about the mean one. the one you saw that callout post about. this is about the one who had maybe a few dozen followers at most. this is about the one who’s not white. this is about the “problematic” one. this is about the blogger who’s annoying, the one who complains all the time. this is about the one you have blocked. the one you reported.
staff only enforces the rules when they want to, on who they want to. i’ve had so many mutuals whose blogs were deleted just in the last couple months and all but two were transfems. it doesn’t matter who “broke TOS” or not (and clearly it doesn’t to staff, either) — no one deserves to get cut off from their community. stop fucking nuking my mutuals.
This was posted yesterday. They’ve since nuked op.
gang. gang please i am begging you if you are underage do not DO NOT. LISTEN TO ME. HEY.
HEY LISTEN TO ME.
DO NOT PUT YOUR AGE IN YOUR BIO. DO NOT PUT YOUR ASSIGNED GENDER IN YOUR BIO (agab terminology is flawed in general but i don’t fault you for using it in this case). DO NOT PUT YOUR TRIGGERS IN YOUR BIO. I AM NOT YELLING AT YOU I AM SAYING THIS URGENTLY. I AM NOT MAD. I AM WORRIED.
NO STRANGER NEEDS TO KNOW HOW OLD YOU ARE. NO STRANGER NEEDS TO KNOW YOUR ASSIGNED GENDER/BODY *ESPECIALLY* IF YOU’RE UNDERAGE. NO STRANGER NEEDS TO KNOW WHAT HURTS YOU.
this goes double if you plan on posting your face–if you are a minor i highly discourage you from posting your face at all. this goes triple if you’ve posted where you’re from. you do NOT need anyone you don’t trust online having that information. even if nobody wants to hurt you directly–which is the case for 99% of people, nobody is out to hurt you specifically if they don’t know you–it’s also about your digital footprint.
call me ignorant but i genuinely don’t understand why sports have to be split up by gender.
@ everyone in the notes talking about physical performance: if that were the case, then sports would be divided by physical performance. that’s a thing you can measure. that’s a thing that varies by individual. a weak man and a strong man would be an unfair fight in boxing/wrestling/MMA, which is why they divide those sports up into weight groups based on physical performance. but they also further segregate them based on gender. chess is segregated by gender for no reason but sexism. if it’s actually about skill and physical ability, then measure those and separate people by those metrics. don’t do some bullshit gender segregation and pretend like men and women are inherently on different levels no matter their individual abilities.
💅
Remember that time a teenage girl struck out Babe Ruth? That’s fucking why. Men are afraid of being beaten by women.
Shooting is a sport that has no reliance on strength and so any allowance for gender variation is irrelevant.
The last time there was a mixed competition (1992) a chinese woman named Zhang Shan won it.
It’s often presented as for the benefit of women. After all, they’ll be heartbroken when they‘re hurt or bested by men.
Projection is a hell of a drug.
this is why they drug test Serena like crazy. the believe no woman should be that good. let alone a black woman.
and black women have always been considered “manly” and less feminine.
also can we talk about how surfing is segregated as well? like how the dude who won this years international surfing cup or whatever was given $30,000 worth of prize money, while the woman who won the women’s comp was only awarded like $16,000 of prize money???? or whatever it was. but I know it was either half or less than half of what the man won. like why can’t they get the same prize money and when they’re competing internationally in the same competition? they surely have the same level of skill and talent.
the pay gap in sports between men and women is fucking insane.
The pay gaps, not to mention lack of sponsorships for women athletes who don’t look like models is insane. If you weigh over 250 pounds, no one will sponsor you. It’s why most female Olympic-class weightlifters live in poverty/out of their cars.
Reminder that in international (and usually national too) womens athletics anybody with 5m/mol of natural testosterone or higher is disqualified. (See legal case of Dutee Chand vs IAAF.)
Do you or somebody you know have PCOS? You are banned from international womens athletics because you are supposedly in posession of an unreasonable advantage in sports.
Folks disqualified for hyper-androgenism in womens athletics.
Francine Niyonsaba
Caster Semenya
Dutee Chand
Margaret Wambui
And more
-
Why are those disqualified overwhelmingly black and brown? Because testing is case by case when an athletes performance “raises suspicions”. They overwhelmingly test athletes of colour, for being too fast and not meeting white expectations of femininity.
Racism and intersexism(discrimination against intersex people) in sports is abject evil. Desegregate sports.
All of this.
Oh, this some good stuff. I share to others
ABSOTUTAFUCKINGLUTELY. I AM SO INCREDIBLY SICK OF EVERYONE REGARDING WOMEN AS INHERENTLY LESS THAN MEN. “THERE IS NO SEXISM IN BA SING SE” MY ASS
Yup to all of this, especially the racism highlight
not gonna lie, when i saw that a cybertruck had exploded i legit didn’t realize it was some sort of premeditated thing, i just thought it was just another extreme flaw in it’s design. i had no idea fireworks were involved, i honest to god thought it just did that on its own
An autistic person is bothering someone and is unaware.
A neurotypical person sees the interaction and pulls the autistic person away.
Meanwhile, no explanation of what the autistic person was doing that was bothering the other person, and no explanation of how the neurotypical person knew that the other person was uncomfortable.
And if the autistic person asks what they did wrong, they’re considered rude.
No one cares about helping autistic people understand anything. People only care about saving the poor neurotypicals from the inconvenience of being in an autistic person’s presence.
When I say “free water, free food, free shelter, free healthcare, free education for everyone” in that “everyone” I even include the people I hate. Too many people get surprised at the idea that I do wish for the people I hate to have better lives.
When I say EVERYONE, I mean EVERYONE. These are things ALL people should have. If you reblog this saying “except THIS group” then you’ve missed the point entirely.
i want to remove the boots from necks altogether, not just be the one to put on the boot.
Don’t know about OP, but when I say it, this is not selflessness! It’s not selflessness at all. There are still people I would prefer get fucked over! There are really awful shitty people in the world!
But I understand that the tables always turn. ALWAYS. There is no final glorious revolution where The Right People will be in charge forever. The only way to ensure the boot will never be on your neck again is to throw away the fucking boot. Set the table so you eat well no matter which way it turns!
ALL OF THIS.
Leave no one behind. We all deserve food, clean water, clean air, healthcare, housing, electricity, internet, and so forth. No matter who you are, you deserve to be able to access and have what you need to survive.
So yes, yes, yes to “throw away the fucking boot.”
To clarify: “exotics owners” does not refer to people who own animals completely unsuited to be pets (big cats, primates, etc). In the vet world, anything that’s not a dog, cat, or farm animal is called an exotic, even something as mundane as a guinea pig. PETA hates pet ownership in general, but they’re especially hostile toward anything non-traditional, even if it’s completely possible to house ethically, like a ball python or bearded dragon.
So if you own a corn snake, congratulations, you’re an exotics owner and PETA has written an article on how terrible you are.
Since this post is getting a ton of notes again and everyone is misunderstanding what I meant by “exotics.”
PETA kills cats and dogs without trying to adopt them out because they think being owned by a human is a fate literally worse than death. They kill thousands of animals. They’ve been in trouble for luring a kid’s pet dog off her porch with treats and then killing it that same day. PETA is the opposite of what they claim to be
Really hate how “mommy and daddy issues” just a jab at the child and not the parent
Oh, so your parent(s) traumatized you when you were vulnerable and defenseless, and they let you down when you were reliant on them for your emotional needs? Lol idiot.
My ENTIRE world just shifted to the left a bit. Thanks.
