I’ve watched a lot, and I mean a lot, of jackie chan style kung fu movies and I just gotta say that this is a brilliant joke that is absolutely worthy of and SHOULD appear in one
*aborted little brother voice* it would be my turn on the xbox…if i existed…
If you had doctored this to look like a sincere post on Facebook from a white American anti-choice woman in her late thirties I would have believed it was real without question.
I was unwilling to put in a significant amount of effort so here
People with most mainstream tastes imaginable should not open their mouth on how anti piracy they are btw. Yea no shit you can depend on legal sources to watch Marvel and listen to tswift and Maroon 5. Thank you so much for signing the petition to close that platform that was the only one i could download this 2008 romanian dungeon synth ep from
Cheryl Dunye’s directorial debut, The Watermelon Woman, was out of print between 2000 and 2018. Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace was only available to watch on a pirate channel on YouTube until last year. There is still no way to watch the X-Files spinoff, The Lone Gunmen except to own a dvd box set that has been out of print since 2005. Or to pirate it. It’s on YouTube.
Piracy is incredibly important to keep media that’s weird, or out there or just embarrassing to someone in power, alive. We need piracy and we need to stop being snitches when someone pirates stuff.

alright everyone is being sassy but nobody has brought up the actual reason why scientists are interested in the titanic in the notes
Per wikipedia:
The Titanic was made of steel, presumably to resist corrosion (i mean. thats why boats are made of steel i assume) but even when iron/steel rusts people did not expect to find like. decomposition. bacteria are EATING the titanic.
and there’s wood furniture from the titanic that isn’t decaying. hell, there are wood ships at the bottom of the ocean that archaeologists study. so the expectation people have for the titanic is not that the steel would decompose at the bottom of the ocean. Even in 100 years, since there are much more ancient preserved wooden ships iirc.
(im not particularly knowledgeable about ships, i just had heard about the science going on around the titanic so i wanted to clarify that on this post for people)
people that act like Britain’s colonial past is ancient history, here are some facts:
Afghanistan’s independence was in 1919.
Egypt was in 1922.
Iraq was in 1932.
Jordan was in 1946.
India and Pakistan were in 1947.
Myanmar and Sri Lanka were in 1948.
Libya and Oman were in 1951.
Sudan was in 1956.
Ghana and Malaysia were in 1957.
Singapore was in 1959.
Cyprus and Nigeria were in 1960.
Cameroon, Kuwait, Tanzania, and Sierra Leone were in 1961.
Jamaica, Uganda, and Trinidad and Tobago were in 1962.
Kenya was in 1963.
Malawi, Malta, and Zambia were in 1964.
The Gambia and the Maldives were in 1965.
Barbados, Botswana, Lesotho, and Guyana were in 1966.
Yemen was in 1967.
Eswatini (Swaziland), Nauru, and Mauritius were in 1968.
Fiji and Tonga were in 1970.
Bahrain, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates were in 1971.
The Bahamas was in 1973.
Grenada was in 1974
Seychelles was in 1976.
Dominica, Tuvalu, and the Solomon Islands were in 1978.
Kiribati and Saint Lucia were in 1979.
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines were in 1979.
Vanuatu and Zimbabwe were in 1980.
Antigua and Barbuda and Belize were in 1981.
Saint Kitts was in 1983.
Brunei was in 1984.
In addition to that: Northern Ireland is still a British territory. So are the Falkland Islands and Bermuda.
This is in the lifetime of ancestors we have that are still alive. Many of these countries were left in financial ruination after colonization with their resources drained. Many of these countries have been repeatedly bombed by the UK and their allies since independence as well. The very act of independence often resulted in massive loss of life (see the partition of India and Pakistan which resulted in 2 million people dead, 20 million people displaced, and countless others never recovered). Calling it ancient history or underplaying the sheer cruelty of what the British empire did is such a slap in the face to the people who suffered for centuries.
i just think i should have the power to control thousands of knives, swords, or perhaps shards of glass synchronously with my mind. i will use this ability purely for culinary endeavors. you can trust me

Hey, so–we cooled your boyfriend down to a hundredth of a kelvin above absolute zero. Yeah, it was so cold that all of the chemical reactions in his body ceased. Sorry. We, uh, yeah, we used him as a dielectric material in a tiny qubit. And then we quantum-entangled him with another qubit, just to see if we could. Sorry. Yeah, anyway, we thawed him out after two weeks and apparently he’s doing fine now. Didn’t really teach us anything about how quantum processes work in biological systems, but it sure was, uh, cool. If you’ll pardon the pun.
THIS POOR, POOR, TARDIGRADE (and every other tardigrade) would NOT EXIST without Cyanobacteria
Tardigrades are animals in the phylum/clade of Tardigrada, which is part of the clade Panarthropoda. Other members of Panarthropoda include Arthropods and Velvet Worms (Onychophora. I made a post about them recently). They are known for being able to survive in extreme conditions, and for (possibly) being the only living organisms that currently inhabit the moon (Tardigrades on the Moon - Wikipedia).
Just like all other animals, Tardigrades breathe O2 (though they can survive for a very long time in anoxic environments by going into a cryptobiotic state). All O2 that Tardigrades - and all other animals - breathe was originally produced by Cyanobacteria, which continue to supply all of us with our O2 to this day. O2 from these Cyanobacteria was also used in the Bereshit lander on which the aforementioned Lunar Tardigrades ventured to the moon.
So we’re just going to skip over the fact we quantum entangled a living thing then
QUANTUM ENTANGLEMENT WOULD EXIST without Cyanobacteria
Quantum entanglement is a phenomenon in physics (specifically quantum mechanics) where multiple particles become entangled such that the quantum stage of any of them cannot be described without also describing the quantum state of the others. This is true even when the particles are extremely far apart! The phenomenon has been demonstrated with various subatomic particles, but also with diamonds and even a Tardigrade!
Of course, since quantum entanglement has been around since basically the beginning of the universe, it considerably predates Cyanobacteria and is not impacted by them at all (although I would love to see some Cyanobacteria get entangled too!)
Looks like @staffmistakenly censored this comic, which is an ironic and very funny thing to happen
Here it is again. You might want to save it just in case an accident like that happens again
EDIT: HMM. LOOKS LIKE OP WAS BANNED TOO. WHAT A FUNNY. IRONIC. ACCIDENT
[Image ID: a black and white comic of two men, one in an american hat and sunglasses representing the government, the other wearing wearing a suit and is labeled “corporate media”.
A box lays on a table between them, labeled “US Govt. CONTROL of INTERNET SPEECH”
On the wall behind corporate media there are two rolls of decorative paper. The first has american flags and stars, labeled “anti-terrorism”. The second has simple flowers, smiley faces, and animals and is labeled “protect kids”.
Corporate media asks the government, “how would you like this wrapped?”

mercy seems like a long shot here, so my prayer for inauguration day 2025: may they be incompetent. may they just be really bad at implementation. may their egos choke their effectiveness. may they drown themselves week by week with infighting and selfish posturing. may they be easily distracted. may the very governors and senators and agencies and religious leaders that the new administration expects to be friendly force endless stalemates to preserve their own power. may every delay turn into a three ring blame circus so chaotic that no one remembers what they were doing. may the good and necessary parts of government be too boring to draw attention and keep running quietly in the background. may the next four years be full of sound and fury and signify nothing.
Adult Transgender Legislative Risk Map, November 2024
This map is made and maintained by transgender journalist Erin Reed. She read all 550 bills targeting trans people in America in 2023 and 586 so far in 2024 and she scores state safety based on proposed and enacted legislation. She regularly updates the map (including explanations of recent legislative changes) on her site. She has a separate map for trans youth (which: warning, is even more scary), since a lot of policies target minors specifically.
It’s depressing as all hell, but Erin does great work and I’ve been using her maps to plan my career and vacations for years. It’s helped me figure out where to apply for grad school, and helps me keep track of what states I cannot do a layover in while flying because of bathroom bills.

this tiktok screenshot ruined my life i need to see the serbian pigeon movie so so badly but it doesn’t exist it’s so foul to make this bad of a point with something so cool and then take it away from me.
Tiktok marvel fans really will be out here like “movie fan SHOCKED because i’d rather watch superhero movie #54 in blue and not a sensual 1987 french horror film about a man discovering his wife may not exist set in what is gradually revealed to be a space station” as if you’re supposed to agree that superhero movie #54 is the clear winner in this comparison
Love the idea of a story about a complex issue that’s told from the perspective of something that cannot comprehend or care about the issue. The way the story would be sliced up and moments that a human would consider pointless would be focused on because the pigeon happened to be there would be hype as fuck
Ok FINE I made the movie poster of it
Mališa, otherwise known as Little One, is a pet pigeon owned by a conservative butler of the Austro-Hungarian aristocracy. She is loved, and she is pampered— until her owner is murdered in cold blood, and she is left to fend for herself in Sarajevo.
In the wilds of the city, she feeds from the poor, working nationalist radicals, and the vieux riches alike.
To Mališa, there are no ethical concerns. No politics. No burgeoning nationalism.
There are only hands that feed her, and hands that do not.
This is compelling. Consider me fucking compelled.
Voice 8 of 11 - the Stubborn I had another design for him ages ago but this is much better imo
