I don’t know where it came from, but several years ago this idea popped into my head unbidden, and for some reason it tickles me. I don’t know if it’s funny, but I like it and I made it into a zine, I hope you enjoy it.
It lays out really nicely as 3-up spreads on A4 paper, so you can print, staple and fold it, then cut it into 3 zines. It made it really easy to print up 20 of them to trade at this art social thing I went to
micron, rotring and sharpie on printer paper, coloured and screentoned digitally, 2024
This is magnificent and I love it.
Modern OZ where they all do cool wheel tricks and instead of slippers it was a dirt bike? Interesting! Does this Au have a name yet?
I’m going to need a sequel, a prequel, and a Wicked type play.
Yes! I’m also gonna need that! Modern biker/skater OZ is so cool!

knives out is so good for so many reasons but I really appreciate how utterly, absolutely, devastatingly sad it is that Harlan didn’t have to die. he didn’t want anything bad to happen to Marta because of a mistake she didn’t actually make. he would’ve been fine. she was his friend and he died to protect her. what a perfectly executed tragedy.
The more I watch that movie the more that I think Harlan was just as flawed as the rest of his family.
He didn’t die trying to protect Marta. He died trying to bring his mysery novels to life.
Properly protecting Marta would have been following her instructions and recording something to insist it wasn’t negligence. Not suicide.
The entire Harlan family never actually listens to Marta - they use her as a prop. Sometimes as a demonstration of a “proper immigrant,” sometimes as a prop to get their inheritance back, and sometimes as a plot device in one final grand mystery.
Which is what Benoit means when he tells Marta, “You didn’t play his game.”
I’ve I’m ever forced into the ground, I don’t want to be embalmed. No coffin either. Just toss me into the ground completely powerless. I wanna Rawdog my funeral. It will be open casket because there will be no casket. I will provide shovels for you all to dig the shallow grave. It must be 4ft deep. I was the chance to be found after rain. A garden is to be planted over me. Nothing but Hemlock. I don’t want to risk being disturbed before it’s time.
I trust one of the various rat detector detectors will be able to organize it. Whoever wins the blood games at the end of my funeral gets the inheritance. The biometric lock only opens if there’s enough blood in the soil of the fighting pit. Each of you may only bring 1 weapon and it must be made entirely out of some kind of stone. No metals no wood no plastics or whatever. Only stone. Glass is acceptable but you’re on thin ice. Ice is also acceptable.
Now then. Good luck everyone on trying to outlive me. If you don’t, I’ll make sure your funeral is just as unforgettable as mine, and that’s a threat. Don’t bother warning your loved ones, they’re already doomed.
im glad whoever made this photo helpfully added a red circle so i could spot the alien but im still not sure where the alien is. could someone please magnify the alien so i can see it. i cant find any

Had a lot of fun playing around with the lighting in this one and trying to make it look like we are inside the temple surrounded by our fellow cultists. (Someone is about to be sacrificed 0_o) Also played around again with picture book text stuff yea yea!! Hope you like it!! Enjoy :DD
not to worry mutuals, I’ve recruited a halfling to detect any and all spike traps on your dashboard, just make sure not to scroll too fast so he has time to find them
Just saw somebody use the phrase “indirect incest” and I think my brain melted.
For context, this was about two sisters whose boyfriends were related to each other. Like these two sisters were out there dating men that they were not related to. And the men were dating these two sisters, who they were not related to. Nobody was related to anybody they were dating. But the fact that the sisters’ boyfriends were related to each other makes it indirect incest. I am going to eat glass.
This is “dating short people makes you a pedophile” type logic
I once joked to a friend that I should go flirt with the guy in our group who had the same first name as me. In a “haha wouldn’t that be funny” way, (like today I’d say “imagine the ship names!”)
Friend said, “That’s super incest-y, don’t do that.”
And nope, friend really meant “incest-y”, “like you’re almost related but not really, feels like that.”
👀
The same FIRST NAME is ‘incesty’? Does your friend know how names work?
I mean some parents just have bad taste in names. But naming someone Incesty is pretty bad.
In my head: ah! The archaic form of the letter s! Being a casual scholar of linguistics myself I am well aware that though it resembles the letter f in modern typography in fact it is phonetically identical to s! How foolish it would be to stumble into such a simple lexiconical pitfall!
something that should be taken with a grain of salt are the statistics talking about the high rates of mental illness + neurodivergence among trans people (ocd, bpd, adhd, autism, etc)
I see both sides of the political spectrum taking these studies at face value - conservatives say we’re broken, and trans people try to come up with reasons why for example autism + gender dysphoria makes sense and why one of them feeds into another
at the end of the day you have to remember that we’re the one category of people on this planet who are legally required to go see a psychiatrist in order to receive non-psychiatric medication and surgeries.
more trans people are in therapy by law than any other demographic of people, and as a result, this captures more comorbidities.
if I had to look at my own family & rates of mental illness?
mom, dad, 2 maternal aunts, maternal grandmother, paternal grandmother, sister, sibling, and me all have OCD.
7/9 of them are cishet, never been to therapy, never diagnosed. 2/9 are trans, required therapy for hormone treatment, and were diagnosed.
you don’t have to do any math to just see that the resulting statistics end up intensely skewed.
and we can think back to how autism was virtually never diagnosed more than 50 years ago - ruling out any grandparents being included in statistics - and even my parents’ generation (they’re in their 60s now) wouldn’t have been included either.
I don’t think it’s to anyone’s benefit to accept these studies uncritically. a lot of these things are hereditary and far more prevalent in the overall population than people realize

it is absolutely BONKERS to me, the number of people in the united states i have talked to who have never even heard of the battle of blair mountain. how the largest labor uprising in our history manages to skirt by so many leftists unknown is just downright astonishing. the largest labor uprising, and the largest armed uprising, period, since the civil war.
did yall even hear me?
THE LARGEST ARMED UPRISING!! besides the civil!!! fucking!! war!!! was fought in 1921 in the name of LABOR RIGHTS AND UNIONS by TEN THOUSAND RIGHTEOUSLY PISSED, STRIKING COAL MINERS
these absolute fucking LEGENDS marching out the hollers of west virginia, wearing their red bandanas and wielding their papaw’s shotguns pointed at the lawmen. waging war against the fucking UNITED. STATES. MILITARY!!! for their right to work safely and be paid fairly!!!
and people just like. don’t know about that? put some fucking respect on west virginia!!! and fellow appalachians, yall best just own it when ignorant people call you a fucking redneck cause our ancestors did that shit and they did it for us
The mine owners hired planes to drop bombs on the striking workers. Chemical weapons and leftover WWI explosives were also used against the striking workers. All for the “horrific crime” of wanting to join a miner’s union.
That is why we celebrate Labor Day in September. That is why Labor Day is a national holiday.
To the best of my knowledge, the continental United States has only suffered air-to-ground attacks four times in the nation’s history.
9/11
One (1) successful fire balloon attack courtesy of the Japanese Empire in WWII
The Battle of Blair Mountain
and the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.
A full half of these attacks are US citizens bombing other US citizens because the victims of these attacks were willing to do the hard work required to improve their material conditions within the oppressive systems that defined their lives.
let’s not forget the Ludlow Massacre in 1914 where the colorado national guard opened fire on 1,200 civilians, many of which were mothers with their children, under the orders of corporate mining. using an embanked machine gun.
21 people were killed, and the only reason so many survived was because a train operator parked his engine between the strikers and the militia, providing cover
Thinking about Romeo killing himself through poison (more passive, “woman’s weapon) Vs Juliet having to kill herself with a knife (more active, images of falling on your sword, typically masculine concepts)
It does mean something! Shakespeare turns the “normal” gender roles on its head with the portrayal of Romeo and Juliet. For the most part, Juliet is level-headed and logical while Romeo is impulsive and driven by emotion. Juliet mostly monologues her thoughts whereas Romeo laments his feelings. Take the scene where Juliet is about to drink the Friar’s potion! She talks out her fears, mulling over possible outcomes. Now consider the scene where Romeo has killed Tybalt and is waiting to hear the Prince’s verdict. He’s hysterical and becomes even more inconsolable when he learns he’s been banished. He even takes out his dagger and threatens to take his life right then and there in front of Friar Lawrence. He’s crying so much that Friar Lawrence berates him and tells him to knock it off, be a man!
There’s even been a period of time where productions of Romeo and Juliet forced them into stereotypical gender roles, taking out how emotional Romeo was written to be. The podcast Shakespeare Unlimited by the Folger Shakespeare Library did a great episode on this topic!
YES! And the links between this and the idea of masculinity harboured by the people of Verona, which is defined by violence!
there’s also a really great essay on this by Marlena Tronicke from her book Shakespeare’s Suicides: Dead Bodies That Matter—here’s the link to the R&J chapter
additional fun fact: romeo and horatio are the only male shakespeare characters to attempt suicide by poison, which has some Interesting Implications
I was rambling on the issue of museums and human remains and how certain populations are more likely to have their bodies put on display to be gawked at and then went “well I guess the Pompeii casts were of Europeans. there are bones in there right?” and Googled it to make sure, at which point I confirmed that yes there are bones in there, but more interestingly DNA testing revealed that a cast of an adult holding a child everyone assumed was a mother and child were, in fact, a man and a kid entirely unrelated to him. Honestly that’s more moving to me. Maybe they were connected in a way other than blood, but maybe a stranger saw a child when the world was ending and thought the one thing he could do was hold them.
Did you know them, before the end of the world? This little child, this crying tiny thing, The one in your arms forever under dust And rock and plastered bones?
You share no blood but still you share a tomb, Was this a neighbour child? One you passed Most days and knew their name And knew to hold them in your final moments? Telling them “of course, we’ll find them, I know your mother’s face –“ Before the sky came thundering down?
Or were you slaves together? Abandoned at your master’s fleeing heels, As you carried this child who never should have shared your fate, Through perhaps the only minutes of freedom you ever knew? Did you pray together, cry together in a language half-forgotten As you crouched beneath the flames of Gods?
Or were you strangers then – And still – And you saw a child, alone, afraid, and thought: “The last thing I can do for them is clasp them tight and shield their eyes from these cruel, unyielding skies.”
Does it matter if you knew them then? Before the rocks, before the smoke clouds whirled Because you held them, in that end Before the death of all your world.
This is so irresponsible though? This president has clearly become accustomed to captivity and while this might seem heartwarming, if you’ve ever cared for a US President, you’ll see the obvious signs that sleepy joe has lost his survival skills and he won’t be able to make it on his own in the Amazon. It’s honestly so twisted and cruel that people would film this and pretend it’s a feel good moment when they’re actually sending this fragile senior President to his death. Sometimes releasing is not possible and that’s why we have the humane option of assassination.
rewatching old episodes of british comedy shows and the sheer amount of sexist and racist wankers in the comments saying that the female and/or dark skinned comedians aren’t funny is staggering
Israel “outright denied” 82 out of 91 attempts since 26 October to deliver aid to besieged areas in northern Gaza, said Georgios Petropoulos, head of the UN humanitarian office in Gaza. More attempts were unsuccessful because of “denials of specific locations or specific supplies,” he said in a statement reported by The Washington Post on 26 November.
The aid that has reached Gaza is being looted by criminal gangs, which are able to operate freely after Israel began killing members of the Gaza police attempting to secure aid deliveries earlier this year. “It is tactical, systematic, criminal looting,” Petropoulos told the BBC. […] The BBC was told that “thefts often happen in clear sight of Israeli soldiers or surveillance drones but that the army fails to intervene. […] Stolen goods are apparently being stored outside or in warehouses in areas under Israeli military control”.

love it when people frame some simple abstract concept in the most inflammatory possible way so that they can get self-righteously offended when other people get self-righteously offended, like yes you could teach the game of chess by framing it such that pawns commit suicide after being assaulted by bishops and “castle takes queen” is a rape dungeon but it would be unreasonable to get mad if people get mad.
it’s related to thought experiments of the form “what would you do if you had to drop kick a baby in order to prevent ten babies from being drop kicked?” and there’s no way to answer that without sound like some total freak who’s just itching to play baby parabola at any given moment but why are you getting mad??
I’m, sorry, who do you know that’s playing Rape Chess?
look they just took forced mate to its logical conclusion
