I’m mostly going to be focusing on staying spiteful and hopeful today but since I’ve already seen a handful of posts that are like this I do wanna remind everyone that we are dealing with a major surge in radical feminist ideology in queer and progressive spaces, and while I won’t fault anyone for venting, now more than ever it is important to familiarize yourself with what radical feminisim is(it is not just hating trans people or trans women it is SO much more and anyone who pretends otherwise is misinformed or intentionally lying) and why it’s so dangerous and figure out how to talk about the way the alt-right is targeting young (mostly)white men without getting radfem-y about it.
Don’t call them “males” don’t act like men are born with misogyny built into their DNA do NOT fucking act like trans men are the enemy and don’t spread hopeless bullshit about how men can never improve or will always hate women and thus are a lost cause and the only people we’ll ever be safe around are women and queer men who abandon masculinity completely. In the coming years queer, intersex, marginalized, and even some cishet white men will be your allies, they are not a lost cause, they can be swayed to our side, and acting like it’s impossible for men to change UPHOLDS the very system that is indoctrinating them right now, it does NOTHING to fight it.
Fr check this at the door now. Radical feminism is inherently racist, sexist, transphobic, classist, and white supremacist and it will NOT save us. I don’t care if the person selling you on it is trans or queer or a person of color, radical feminisim is never truly inclusive and WILL NOT SAVE US. Gender and bio essentialism are the tools of the enemy, we do not need them. Abandon them now and purge them from your theory, community, and self.

i have understood so many things about online leftist culture by the fact that when i said “your local community has people you will morally and politically disagree with but you cannot lock them out of accessing any tangible service you’re organising” one of the tags responding said “this isn’t about proshippers in here you’re not welcome” like. folks. focus with me. some of us are homeless here.
There’s a disconnect happening here because the primary function of social media for most casual users is to form a circle of friends around the usual things that friendships are built on: shared interests and lifestyles and ideas of what is important and what is unacceptable. When people are mainly doing leftism on social media, this encourages thinking of leftism as centered around establishing high-minded social clubs.
For anyone who still isn’t getting it from someone who helps people IRL: There’s a difference between whom you’re helping to feed at the mealshare and whom you’re choosing to hang out with for fun after the mealshare. You don’t have to invite a hungry person with opinions you don’t like to play board games with you, but you do have to help keep them from starving if you’re serious about leftist organizing.
I’m seeing very few people talk about this, but Project 2025 threatens to get rid of the Department of Education. This would allow increased parental control into what’s being taught in the classroom, and will only increase book bans. Please, if you know a child in your life, get a book into their hands. Give them banned books. Give them books about any topic being taken out of schools. Take them to the library. Pirate ebooks for them. Donate your own books. Don’t let their education be taken away.

the last few days have resulted in radfem accelerationism finding its way onto my timeline on twitter, tumblr and reddit. “unlimited androcide” keeps popping up as a tongue-in-cheek phrase. i don’t think any of it is actually serious, nor does it really bother me personally whatsoever. but all of this strikes me as performative and counterproductive.
at the end of the day, i agree that men have a huge radicalization problem. however, i don’t think that more hatred and resentment and anger and wishes of death and casting some dumbass guy as a rapist woman hater when he’s purely stupid or has a deeply ingrained misogynistic worldview that is extremely common in America, even among women. it’s not working now and it never really did.
my point is that, unfortunately, no matter who it is, making broad, sweeping generalizations about people and turning everyone belonging specific subgroup into the enemy is going to be counterproductive in getting those people to ally with you. in this instance, yes, there are some who will understand the nuance in this opinion but it will be lost on everyone else and your words will be used to elevate a perception of hate from real right-wing misogynists who make a living off of the discourse.
and maybe some would say “well, i don’t want that person on my side” but there are a lot of young men who haven’t LEARNED to think critically yet who hear people say that and it really only pushes them toward one available option, not mentioning the constant pressure from their peers and the ongoing degradation of their material conditions. they have a responsibility to learn and improve, but it’s not exactly an easy hole to crawl out of.
