tumblr needs a “sorry for living in the wrong timezone” feature where there’s like a tab that shows your dash but 12 hours ago or whatever. for equality for the mutuals that live on the other side of the world
No Nut November started as a way to raise awareness of prostate cancer, but the event has spread to be something of a personal challenge instead, and tragically is the worst way to do it especially for prostate awareness because semen retention can actually raise risk of prostate cancer!
So remember to nut often and tell all your friends to nut too. Nut for the homies that died of cancer, unable to nut ever again.
a woman being feminine is right-wing coded which is masculine coded. a woman being masculine is left-wing coded which is feminine coded. this disproves the existence of women
what if vampires are like mosquitoes and only the ladies drink blood
Pretty sure that would mean the fellas drink tree sap or something. Imagine running from a vampire thru the woods and passing her husband who’s biting a tree real hard
Maple syrup vampire husband
Encounter: Maple syrup vampire husband drinking sap in the woods, also trying to lure you to his literally bloodthirsty wife.
The wife has the classic Villain Of The Night aesthetic, all black, flowing cape, everything, and her husband is wearing red flannel, overalls, a beard, and is welding a log-splitting axe
This person gets it! Classic vampire lady and her lumberjack husband!
Living any life in this world as a disabled person who can’t be exploited effectively for profit is important resistance. Not being able to conform and yet refusing to be erased is vital. Living in spite of society’s demands and expectations and refusing to apologize for it is part of a slow revolution. Crafting a space for yourself despite the worlds hostility will help others do the same.
controversial opinion but unfortunately you are your actions and what you say. if you are mean to people, it doesn’t matter if you sometimes have secret kind thoughts. fortunately you are your actions and what you say. if you are kind in your actions and your words, it doesn’t matter if you sometimes have mean thoughts. the power is in working against inner negative thoughts and being a better person despite it. you have the ability to cultivate the person you want to be.
every bad faith poster says shit like “competitive players don’t care about Pokémon as individuals, they only care about them as stats and numbers on a spreadsheet, it proves N right” and then actual competitive players are like “I’m running a heatran team meaning I’ve looked at its render a lot the last few days, and I’ve started to see a repressed sadness in his eyes. I think he dreams of a better life he doesn’t let himself live. Is this just me”
Every time I look at the Narinder in my Cult of the Lamb save, I can’t help but think he looks like my baby boy if my boy was a power-hungry hooligan. Only difference being, my son would be better at it.
Just look at him! Now THAT is the face of an adorable lil schmoop prepared to betray his bloodline!
i think one of the most important things you learn about making connections with others is that a significant portion of the time people just do not know theyre doing what theyre doing
sometimes someone is acting selfish because they just didnt think you had any interest in what theyre hogging. sometimes you dont get invited to the movies because your friend could have sworn that you said no. sometimes you think someone is mad at you because theyre bad at hiding how little sleep they got. we are all like little worlds that briefly crash into one another from time to time and we just arent physically capable of seeing the whole picture at once in those moments. and learning that really changed everything!
so true one time someone thought i was very angry but i just needed to pee really bad
so much of what people attribute to like inherent biological differences between age groups is a lot more just the result of having different amounts of life experience. is that teenager functionally brain damaged because their brain is “underdeveloped” or have they only been alive for 14 years and thus do not have the same amount of practical experience + wisdom to draw on when dealing with difficult situations.
Is that toddler “overreacting” to losing his favorite toy by crying uncontrollably or is it genuinely the worst thing he’s ever experienced because he’s only been alive for two years?
Is that teenager “hormonal” because she’s obsessed with a boy or is it just the first time she’s felt this kind of love?
Is that child “stupid” because they can’t figure out a basic problem or is it just the first time they’ve seen that problem?
I’m more equipped to handle those experiences because I’ve dealt with them before, not because my brain is more developed or because I’m smarter or inherently a better person. It’s their first time being alive, give them a break. Its also your first time being alive, give yourself a break
man everyone is just going through it like. this fully sucks for everyone
not even like joking around like genuinely if you’re also Going Through It right now i hope stuff gets better for you. like. everything sucks in a way that feels like it’s completely out of my/our control and it feels like a hill too steep to climb
THESIS: the real reason that people stay on this hellsite is not “chronological order” or “the drama” or whatever (per se), but is instead linked to how tumblr, unlike most social media, is not optimised to give content as short of a half-life as possible, but instead is optimised to let content continue to cycle for months, years, even decades. this has in turn led to a more consistent centralised site “culture” in which there is more coherent linkage among different areas of the site, thus also explaining why its content permeates so thoroughly throughout the internet.
[id: screenshot of tags by user bee-dazzle, reblogging from bunjywunjy. #also because it has enough anonymity that people can be interestingly weird rather than curated fake polished#which means it feels like a far more authentic human experience. /end id]
Addition to that ☝, Tumblr actively encourages partitioning off different personas in the form of side blogs, and allows anonymous interaction. It used to allow anons who were not even members of the site. A person can experiment with their blogs and personas with minimal penalty, which in turn adds to the authentic weirdness of it all, which feeds into the long shelf-life of content.
It’s also customizable in a way algorithm based websites are not (I choose and design my own feed) and has a culture that actually accepts that blocking people and curating your own experience is normal and fine and doesn’t make you a coward or..whatever tiktok and Twitter says about blocking people. It feels like my decisions MATTER. What I follow matters. And I have the freedom to control my feed and make this website whatever I want it to be. It’s my space.
Also BECAUSE I curate my own feed there are times where not much happens or no one I follow is posting. It’s a real place, people log on and off and you can feel it, and that makes everything else feel more real, too.
